The remakes of Resident Evil 1, 2, and 4 (with some fans also enjoying the Resident Evil 3 remake, though it wasn’t as well-received) generally stick to familiar gameplay. However, the main Resident Evil series has often taken risks with what defines the game. After Resident Evil 6 moved away from horror, Resident Evil 7 had to refocus the series on its scary origins. Despite some action-packed installments, the RE series has consistently delivered frightening experiences throughout its history.

Mystery box shows, such as Lost, Stranger Things, Severance, Westworld, and Fringe, usually fall into a specific genre and tell one large, intricate story. Unlike shows with self-contained episodes, these series require viewers to watch them in order, as each episode builds on the previous one to solve a bigger puzzle. Skipping episodes would leave gaps in the overall narrative.

Silent Hill is a captivating and frightening game that combines survival elements with deep psychological horror. Its disturbing atmosphere and themes have made it a classic, though there’s always potential for growth. Several other survival horror games and series offer similar experiences.

Stephen King’s novel Carrie, published in 1974, has been made into a movie several times.
