Last year, many major movie theaters celebrated the world of Oz by selling special “Wicked”-themed popcorn buckets and collectibles. Fans could choose from items like Witch Hat Cups and Lantern Popcorn Containers to enjoy with their snacks and drinks during the first showing.

Most villains in action-packed stories, or ‘shonen,’ have complex backstories and understandable reasons for their actions. Fans enjoy these villains because they force the heroes to confront difficult questions, not just fight battles. But one particularly famous villain completely goes against this trend – and that’s exactly why people love him.

Actor Xolo Maridueña’s movie, Blue Beetle, is now available on Netflix and has quickly become popular with U.S. viewers. It’s currently the fifth most-watched film on the platform’s Top 10 list for American subscribers, according to a recent announcement from Gunn.

According to FlixPatrol, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is currently popular on streaming services in several countries. It’s a top 10 movie on HBO Max in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania (all at #6), and even higher in Spain at #3. In the UK, where it’s on Amazon Prime, the film debuted at #8. Surprisingly, Interstellar is also gaining traction in the U.S., appearing at #6 on the iTunes rental charts, despite not being available on major U.S. streaming platforms. This sudden surge in popularity demonstrates that audiences are still very interested in the film, even years after its release.

Marvel and Hot Toys have teamed up to create a special collectible figure for dedicated Spider-Man fans. It celebrates a unique version of the character – Takuya Yamashiro – who starred in a 1978 Japanese TV show. The figure depicts Yamashiro, a motorcyclist who gained spider-like powers after finding a spaceship and its last survivor from Planet Spider, named Garia. This highly detailed, 1/6th scale collectible is sure to appeal to those familiar with this rare iteration of the web-slinger.

The popular ABC series revolved around the people of Storybrooke, Maine, a town where magic didn’t exist. This was due to a powerful curse from The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) that made fairytale characters forget who they really were. Ginnifer Goodwin, 47, played two roles: Snow White and Mary Margaret Blanchard, a quiet schoolteacher in Storybrooke. Mary Margaret didn’t initially realize she was actually the wife of Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and the mother of Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), who was destined to break the curse.

Clint Bentley, who recently earned an Academy Award nomination for “Sing Sing”, directs and co-writes (with Greg Kwedar) “Train Dreams”. This film is based on an acclaimed novella by Denis Johnson, which originally appeared as a short story in The Paris Review back in 2002. Bentley skillfully brings Johnson’s poignant story to life, creating what many are calling one of the best films of the year.

I recently read a fascinating interview with Mike Hill, the creature designer and prosthetics head on Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. He talked about just how challenging it was to create a fresh take on the monster. Apparently, del Toro really wanted something completely new, and with the character appearing in over 400 films already, coming up with a design that didn’t feel like everything we’d seen before was a huge hurdle. Hill and his team really had to dig deep to make this version unique. It’s clear del Toro pushed them to avoid simply recreating past iterations, and they intentionally approached the character with that goal in mind. (via Comic Book Resources)

Wow, Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars is really heating up! It was amazing to see all the finalists locked in, but honestly, the biggest surprise for me was seeing Zac Efron in the audience! Everyone was wondering where he was, and it was so sweet that he came to support his brother, Dylan. It felt like that support gave Dylan the boost he needed to make it to the finale! And can we talk about their mom? Everyone is absolutely loving the adorable moments with her – it’s making the whole season even more heartwarming!
