Jamie Campbell Bower discussed the shocking ending of the first part of Stranger Things Season 5, specifically the events surrounding Vecna and Will Byers, in a recent ScreenRant interview.
Season 5 of Stranger Things brings back Kali, also known as Eight, in the fourth episode. Fans haven’t seen her since “The Lost Sister” episode in Season 2 – over eight years ago. She reappears when Eleven and Hopper go undercover at a hidden military base inside the Upside Down.
The first part of Stranger Things season 5 finds Max still in a coma. Lucas frequently visits her at the hospital and plays Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” hoping to bring her back. While she doesn’t show any signs of waking up, her physical health has improved – her broken bones have healed, and she’s no longer wearing a neck brace. However, it seems she’s still unable to see, a lasting effect from Vecna’s curse in the previous season.

I have to say, Max has really become a standout character since she was introduced in season two. She’s quickly become crucial to the show’s heart, and it’s been fascinating watching her grow, especially her relationships with the younger kids. Season four, though? That was a powerful dive into the aftermath of Billy’s death, and the way it messed with her – the grief, the possible guilt, it was all so layered and compelling to watch. It really showcased the depth of her character.
Reddit user OkInfluence36 shared a strange discovery: unsettling, nearly nude character sprites hidden within the files of the game Stardew Valley. These sprites, often green-skinned and lacking arms, wear only shoes and a white bikini (if anything at all) and are posed in odd ways. Now that Stranger Things is ending with season 5, fans are curious about which characters will make an appearance. While the confirmed list of returning characters is already quite long, some haven’t been seen for a while. In an interview with TMZ, Ice-T revealed the show’s main goal this season was to create opportunities for Kelli Giddish to have a bigger part, stating:
Okay, so season 5 picks up about a year and a half after everything went down in season 4. Hawkins is basically under lockdown, with the military all over the place, because of that massive ‘earthquake’ – which, of course, we know was really Vecna causing trouble. We haven’t seen Vecna since he got blasted out that window, but everyone’s still on edge, preparing for his next attack. Hopper and Joyce are focused on helping Eleven get her powers back on track, while the rest of us – Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Nancy, Jonathan, Steve, and Robin – are all trying to figure out how to find him. It’s tough, though, because Max is still in a coma, and seeing her just reminds us of everything that’s at stake.
