Both Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, but James Cameron only received a Best Director nomination for the first Avatar film. In a recent interview with Canada’s The Globe and Mail, Cameron expressed frustration that another director with comparable success never received a nomination for Best Director.

When James Gunn first announced this movie, he said it would be based on a well-known story. This means fans will already be familiar with the main plot. The film centers around Supergirl meeting Ruthye during a drunken birthday celebration on a planet with a red sun, as Ruthye seeks a hero to avenge her father’s death. It will also delve into Kara Zor-El’s ongoing emotional struggles from witnessing Krypton’s destruction, something hinted at in the released teaser. However, the movie isn’t a direct copy of the comic book. For instance, the character Lobo wasn’t part of the original story, so his role is currently unknown. The surprise cameo of Superman in Supergirl was likely intended to be a similar reveal, and while Milly Alcock accidentally spoiled it, that might actually help build excitement for the movie.
Dune 3, or Dune: Part Three, will continue the story started in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. Timothée Chalamet will return as Paul Atreides, the character who, by the end of the second movie, embraced his fate and became emperor.
Andrew Terraciano was a consistent presence on Blue Bloods, portraying Sean Reagan throughout the show’s entire 14-season run, appearing in nearly 300 episodes from 2010 to 2024. When CBS developed the spin-off Boston Blue, a different actor, Mika Amonsen, took over the role. However, Terraciano recently told Us Weekly he’d be eager to join Boston Blue in any capacity, even if it meant playing a completely new character.
The current popularity of anime is expected to keep growing through 2026. Streaming services like Netflix and Crunchyroll are already announcing their 2026 lineups, featuring both returning favorites and exciting new series. Among the upcoming shows are the highly anticipated Witch Hat Atelier and a fresh adaptation of Ghost in the Shell.
Okay, so everyone’s predicting Fire and Ash is going to have a huge opening weekend, but it might not be a record-smashing one. It looks like it’s going to be more like Avatar – a lot of people know about it, everyone wants to see it in the best formats like IMAX, and it’s expected to do really well over weeks and months, not just in its first few days. Basically, it’s a movie people will keep going back to see!
Following Melissa Benoist’s introduction of Supergirl in the Arrowverse, Sasha Calle portrayed the character in the DCEU film The Flash. Despite the movie receiving mixed reactions, Calle’s performance as Supergirl was a highlight. Now, with a brief appearance of Supergirl at the end of the Superman movie, the first trailer showcasing Milly Alcock in the role and her new costume inevitably draws comparisons to Calle’s cinematic portrayal of the Girl of Steel.
I just finished watching Task, and it really stuck with me. It’s a tough watch – it deals with a child abduction – but what’s fascinating is how it shows the people on both sides of the investigation, the cops and the abductors, and how surprisingly similar their motivations can be. Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, and Emilia Jones all give great performances. If you’re into this kind of intense, character-driven drama, I think you’d also really like Long Bright River over on Peacock.
