For years, television has delivered science fiction fans everything from epic space adventures to time travel stories, scary sci-fi horror, and fantastical series. These shows are often huge hits, demonstrating that sci-fi appeals to a wide audience, not just dedicated fans. It all began with a handful of groundbreaking sci-fi series that set the standard for what viewers wanted.

Unlike shows with dramatic conflicts and family sagas, Mayor of Kingstown focuses on how power operates within a system, rather than on individual characters. It’s a gritty and uncompromising show that tests your limits. This demonstrates Taylor Sheridan’s ability to tell new and compelling stories, proving he’s not limited to the style of Yellowstone.

The movie Mercy takes place in Los Angeles, not too far in the future, where crime is increasing. Detective Christopher Raven, played by Chris Pratt, is accused of murdering his wife (Annabelle Wallis) and is put on trial. The judge presiding over his case isn’t a person, but an artificial intelligence portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson of Dune. Raven has just 90 minutes to convince Judge Maddox he’s innocent, or she will carry out his execution.

While not flawless, Untamed was a hit with audiences. Its six episodes made for a perfect weekend watch, as each one skillfully advanced the central mystery. At its heart, it’s a classic ‘who done it?’ story, but the show’s compelling main character and the beautiful, yet eerie, setting of Yosemite National Park gave it a uniquely atmospheric and bittersweet tone. It’s not surprising the series was picked up for another season, especially considering it was originally intended to be a limited run of just six episodes.

A new trailer shown during the NFL game between the Patriots and Broncos revealed that musician Travis Scott will appear in the upcoming film, The Odyssey. Scott previously worked with director Christopher Nolan on the soundtrack for Tenet, contributing the song “The Plan.” The trailer briefly shows Scott alongside Tom Holland (as Telemachus) and Jon Bernthal (as Menelaus). While it’s not yet known what role Scott will play, he can be heard speaking about “war” in the clip. You can watch the teaser below.

Despite its thrilling moments, The Night Manager isn’t just light entertainment. While acknowledging the style of famous spy stories like James Bond, the show carves its own path, exploring a more realistic and emotionally driven narrative. Throughout the current season, the protagonist, Jonathan Pine (played by Tom Hiddleston), insists he’s moved on, but he’s still haunted by his past. He can’t shake the complex feelings he developed for his former target, Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie), whom he investigated, befriended, and ultimately betrayed. When Pine goes undercover with another dangerous arms dealer, Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva), he finds himself repeating the same patterns.

Last November, the main actors from Sydney – Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, and Tuuli Narkle – met Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo while they were visiting Australia. However, Mavournee Hazel and William McInnes, who also star in NCIS: Sydney, weren’t there. When I recently spoke with Hazel about the show, including the history of her character, Bluebird Gleeson, I asked her why she hadn’t been at the photo shoot with Weatherly and de Pablo, and she explained:

The Lord of the Rings perfectly captures the magic of fantasy with its detailed world, compelling characters, intricate plot, and extensive history. However, Tolkien’s writing can be challenging for some readers. Luckily, there are many other fantastic fantasy stories that some people actually prefer to his classic trilogy.

Wonder Man offers a unique kind of behind-the-scenes look. Instead of speaking directly to viewers, the series centers on the life of a Hollywood actor who is also a superhero, subtly commenting on issues like celebrity culture, the overuse of franchises, and the world of superheroes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It’s easy to see why everyone is excited, especially after how well the little hint of Yoshi in the first movie was received. While hearing Yoshi speak took some getting used to, I’m still thrilled to see the character brought to life in animated form. However, we didn’t actually see a lot of Yoshi in the footage, and I was more captivated by all the other references to different games and new elements. So, putting Yoshi aside for a moment, let’s geek out over those other awesome nods to the Mario universe!
