This isn’t the first time Linney has captivated audiences with her acting. She previously starred in The Big C, a Showtime series that debuted in 2010. While reviews for The Big C were mixed, everyone agreed on one thing: Linney’s performance was unforgettable.
Premiering in 2022, The Lincoln Lawyer is a series based on Michael Connelly’s popular sixth book. It centers around Mickey Haller, an optimistic lawyer portrayed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who operates his practice out of his Lincoln Town Car while handling cases throughout Los Angeles. The show also features Becki Newton as Lorna Crane, Campbell as Maggie McPherson, Angus Sampson as Cisco, Jazz Raycole as Izzy Letts, and Lana Parrilla as Lisa Trammell.
Much of the film’s success isn’t just due to good acting and scary moments, but also its small budget. By relying on practical effects rather than computer-generated imagery, director Johannes Roberts crafted a horror movie that feels authentic and inventive, clearly inspired by classic films in the genre.
The 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer started with a novel of the same name by Lois Duncan, but the movie’s story quickly diverged from the book. Screenwriter Kevin Williamson, who had recently found success with Scream, used a similar approach to create this slasher film, loosely basing it on the original story.

Recent issues of X-Men (#24, by Jed MacKay, Tony S. Daniel, Mark Morales, Fernando Sifuentes, and Clayton Cowles) show internal conflict within the mutant terrorist group 3K. However, the fighting stops abruptly with the unexpected arrival of their Chairman: the original Beast, Hank McCoy. What’s worse, this version of Beast is already aware of everything that’s coming in the Age of Revelation.
Movies that accurately capture a specific time period tend to be successful – think of how Hot Tub Time Machine led to a sequel. But if a film gets the era wrong, like Saltburn‘s portrayal of the 2000s, it quickly fades from memory. Election, on the other hand, perfectly embodies the 1990s, doing a better job than any other film.
This time, the danger isn’t criminals like Liam Neeson usually faces. Instead, it’s a deadly, fast-spreading fungus that breaks loose from a frozen storage facility. Two employees, Keery and Naomi, must fight to contain it, and they’ll need help from Neeson’s character, a retired expert in biological threats, to prevent a global disaster.
I remember when Suspect first came out – it was a pretty solid courtroom drama, nothing groundbreaking, but definitely better than average. It got a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, which was good! But honestly, I’m shocked to see it’s suddenly become a huge hit on streaming now, almost 40 years later, considering it didn’t do amazingly in theaters back then. It’s a really pleasant surprise!
