Despite some low scores on Rotten Tomatoes, 2025 actually had a lot of excellent movies that didn’t get the attention they deserved. It’s surprising to see how many well-known actors starred in films that were overlooked, especially considering 2025 turned out to be a fantastic year for cinema.
Inspired by the film The ‘Burbs, the story follows Samira, played by Palmer, who moves to her husband’s childhood home with their new baby. The suburb is known as “The Safest Town in America,” but Samira soon becomes intrigued by a run-down Victorian house and its new resident, Gary (Justin Kirk), who claims he’s going to fix it up. As Samira investigates, she uncovers hidden secrets about the house and the neighborhood, teaming up with a group of eccentric neighbors to find out what really happened.
As of today, the film Wuthering Heights has a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 53 critic reviews. Most critics agree the movie is visually stunning, but it takes considerable liberties with the original story by Emily Brontë. While many reviewers appreciate director Emerald Fennell’s take on the classic, some aren’t happy with how much she’s changed. However, IndieWire noted that Fennell’s focus on the intense love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff provides plenty of compelling drama for the film’s 136-minute runtime.
Even though Mindhunter first hit Netflix nearly a decade ago, it’s still stuck in the minds of so many viewers – and for good reason. After leading us to believe a second season wasn’t happening in 2023, David Fincher dropped a hint that the story might continue as a trilogy of two-hour movies, potentially arriving in 2025. Whether or not we actually get to see more of it, Mindhunter remains, in my opinion, the gold standard for truly captivating television. It set the bar incredibly high, and it’s stayed there.

While How to Train Your Dragon 2 isn’t expected until 2027, DreamWorks has plenty of other options for movies. One strong contender is a 2000 animated action-adventure musical that, despite a lukewarm initial reception, has gained a dedicated following over the years.
The way we now watch shows – all at once – is ideal for thrillers. Cliffhangers are more effective when viewers don’t have to wait weeks for answers, and they can stay completely absorbed in the show’s suspenseful world. Netflix’s thriller series understand this perfectly, and the latest season of one of their shows proves just how much better this format can make a series.
The Vindicators are a team of superheroes similar to the Avengers, first appearing in the Rick and Morty episode “Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender.” Rick had worked with them before, and they came to him for assistance when facing a powerful enemy called the Worldender.
I’ve been following the buzz around Laura, the young mutant who took on the Wolverine mantle after Logan’s supposed death, and it’s fantastic to see how much fans love her. I recently spoke with Dafne Keen, who played Laura, while she was promoting her new film, Whistle, and she shared how incredibly meaningful that fan enthusiasm is to her. It’s clear Logan himself would approve of her continuing the legacy, and Keen is thrilled by the support.
Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Ruffo, is the central character in The Lincoln Lawyer, and he runs his law practice from his Lincoln Navigator. The show also features Yaya DaCosta, Becki Newton, and Neve Campbell, and seasons four added Cobie Smulders and Constance Zimmer to the cast.
