Fighting game franchises like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Super Smash Bros. are the most popular and commercially successful of all time, so it makes sense they were the first to be adapted into live-action movies. Hopefully, their success will show Hollywood that fighting game adaptations can work, opening doors for other, less famous games to get movie deals too. While not as common as shooters or platformers, the fighting game genre has proven to be consistently popular, offering Hollywood a lot of potential ideas, and the one most deserving of a movie is Soulcalibur.

Both The Last of Us and Dark are considered exceptional shows. The Syfy series 12 Monkeys successfully blended elements of both genres—time travel and post-apocalyptic settings—and proved this combination could work well. Though it premiered in 2015—before the Dark and The Last of Us TV shows, but after the The Last of Us game—12 Monkeys offered a fresh and compelling take on these themes.

As a sci-fi fan, I always point to The Expanse as a perfect example of how passionate viewers can actually save a show. Seriously, it proved that hard sci-fi could work on TV without being Star Trek, and that’s opened doors for a lot of the great series we’re enjoying now. But it’s also cool to remember that some of the best sci-fi ever made is classic stuff. Even if the tech seems a little dated now, a really good story is timeless, you know?

However, few films have a subject as iconic as the biggest pop star ever, and Michael is clearly benefiting from that existing fanbase, proving to be a major financial success.

GOAT is more than just a movie with a meaningful message; it’s genuinely entertaining for viewers of all ages. The animation is visually appealing, and the voice acting is excellent, including appearances by real basketball players like Stephen Curry, Angel Reese, and Dwyane Wade. Since its release on Netflix, it’s become a very popular streaming hit, which isn’t surprising given Sony Pictures Animation’s track record of success.

It would be amazing to play a role in one of these projects! These actors are now beloved by fantasy fans, and it’s fun to imagine what they’ll do next.
