The 2025 Emmys perfectly showed how Hollywood often *appears* to care about good causes more than actually *being* committed to them. Host Nate Bargatze introduced a straightforward idea meant to be fun: winners who kept their acceptance speeches under 45 seconds would earn more money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, while longer speeches would result in less funding.

The ornaments are made by a company called Homacus and feature many popular copyrighted characters, primarily from Disney – think Beauty and the Beast, Stitch, and Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. They also include characters like The Grinch, Shrek, and Chucky and Tiffany from Child’s Play. The ornaments depict these characters in a wide range of poses, some of which are suggestive or even quite explicit. Homacus even posts AI-animated versions of the ornaments on TikTok, and they’re surprisingly risqué.

This happened after the law firm Morgan & Morgan asked Disney if they were allowed to use the original Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse. Disney simply responded that they don’t offer legal opinions to outside companies. Now, Morgan & Morgan is asking a court to decide if their use of this early Mickey Mouse design violates Disney’s copyright.
