The new action movie, Assassin, promises intense, non-stop fighting similar to films like John Wick, The Raid, and Ong Bak. With incredible fight choreography, it’s sure to thrill fans of the action genre – and the recently released trailer gives a taste of what’s to come next month.
The film Assassin blends the hard-hitting action of movies like John Wick and The Raid with the stylish thrills of Kingsman and Kung Fu Hustle, but sets it all in the 1930s. It follows a reformed gangster on a deadly mission who quickly finds himself caught in a revolution. At just 90 minutes long, Assassin delivers non-stop, exciting action – think knife fights, bullet dodging, and incredible martial arts – and should please fans of all the films that inspired it, with a unique historical setting.
The movie Assassin will be available to rent or buy digitally on April 17, 2026, thanks to Omnibus Entertainment. While you wait, you can watch the new trailer and read the official movie description below.
Shanghai. 1930s. Occupied and on the brink of war.
Elite fighter Mubai takes on a dangerous, secret mission: assassinating a key figure within the Japanese military. He’s relentlessly pursued through cities, across train lines, and into heavily guarded enemy territory, battling through constant ambushes, explosions, and intense hand-to-hand combat. As the clock ticks down and the body count rises, Mubai must rely on his speed, skill, and courage to survive and complete his mission, a mission that could alter the course of history.
As a huge fan of action movies, I’d say this film, ‘Assassin’, really delivers! It’s cut from the same cloth as films like ‘John Wick’, ‘The Raid’, and ‘Ong Bak’ – basically, non-stop, incredibly well-choreographed fights. If you love that kind of thing, prepare to be on the edge of your seat – it’s absolutely breathless!
