A classic action movie from the 1980s is getting a sequel. The film will likely bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger, a huge action star from that era, to reprise one of his most famous roles. He became a leading man thanks to films like Predator, The Terminator, Conan the Barbarian, and The Running Man, bringing a new level of physicality and toughness to action movies. This sequel would be a ‘legacy sequel,’ meaning it focuses on the original hero returning in a new story.
Released in 1985, Commando is still considered one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best action movies. Directed by Mark L. Lester and written by Steven E. de Souza, the film stars Schwarzenegger as John Matrix, a retired Army Special Forces colonel. The story follows Matrix as he’s forced back into action, ultimately embarking on a revenge mission when his daughter is kidnapped. It’s a classic action setup, similar to Taken, but with even more intensity.
A sequel to the action film Commando has been discussed since 1987, and plans for both a prequel and a reboot have also been considered. Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio (according to TheArnoldFans) that a script for Commando 2 has been completed.
Actually, FOX has recently shown renewed interest in Arnold Schwarzenegger. They approached me with offers to make a new Predator movie and a sequel to Commando, and they’ve already sent over a script for Commando 2.
