The Hobbit really laid the groundwork, but it was Frodo’s journey with the One Ring – that epic quest to save Middle-earth – that truly stuck with me. It set the standard for fantasy adventures, and it’s hard to imagine anything topping it.

While Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy took some liberties with Tolkien’s original books, it’s become a beloved classic, and the actors are now inseparable from their characters. The films—from their music and visuals to the performances—have become iconic, going beyond typical fantasy movies. Everyone has a favorite scene, but one moment consistently stands out as particularly moving.

Aragorn Honored Frodo With a Simple Phrase

Sam was the one person who could help him navigate the intense hatred directed at them by Sauron, as Gollum was the source of this torment.

Throughout the movies, Frodo faced constant danger from huge spiders, man-eating orcs, and even the armies of Gondor. Like those before him, he was on the verge of being corrupted by the Ring’s power, but he had a unique advantage that ultimately saved him from complete destruction, whether he wanted it or not.

Frodo’s journey was so sad because he knew he’d never fully heal. Even precious moments with Sam couldn’t mend the deep wounds inflicted by the Ring and the injuries he sustained. A part of him was forever changed by the darkness he faced.

Aragorn finally becoming King of Gondor was a long-awaited event in the story of Middle-earth. While his coronation was a powerful moment showcasing his journey, it wasn’t the most emotionally impactful scene in the entire series.

It was a really powerful moment near the end, watching Aragorn move through everyone. As he walked, his whole court respectfully bowed before him. Then, when he reached us four Hobbits, we did the same. He turned to us and, with so much warmth, reminded us that we didn’t need to bow to anyone – that our contributions to the Fellowship were enough. It meant the world to me.

Without the bravery of those four hobbits, the world would have fallen into ruin. Merry, Pippin, and Sam were Frodo’s closest companions and played a vital role in destroying the Ring. Everyone recognized their importance – not just Aragorn, but all who attended the ceremony, bowing their heads in gratitude to the four hobbits, so far from home.

Aragorn’s respect for Frodo and his fellow hobbits was central to the story, and really, to the entire series. In a world facing a terrible, oppressive future, it was a humble character who ultimately saved everyone, even at great personal cost. For centuries, elves, humans, and dwarves had battled over how to defeat Sauron, but in the end, it was the courage of an unlikely hero that made all the difference.

Peter Jackson didn’t ignore the lasting impact of Frodo’s choices, and the films clearly show how those choices shaped his entire life. Despite the heavy themes, The Lord of the Rings is ultimately a hopeful story about the power of individuals to create change. At its heart, the series demonstrates how strong friendships can overcome even the darkest of times – a message that continues to resonate with audiences today.

You know, rereading The Two Towers always gets to me. It’s the stories of perseverance, like Frodo and Sam’s journey, that really stay with you. They faced impossible odds and never gave up, and that’s why their tale will be remembered forever. It’s amazing to think that Frodo and Bilbo were among the very few non-Elves ever welcomed to the Grey Havens, and it meant so much to see Sam join them there eventually. I truly believe Frodo’s courage is something we should all aspire to, and Aragorn perfectly summed it up with just two simple words – it was incredibly powerful.
