Apple TV’s The Studio Season 2 Gets Official Release Window

I’m a big Apple TV+ fan, and it’s become clear they’re consistently delivering some of the best shows out there. Their first season was a huge hit – it actually broke several viewership records, which is amazing!

The hit comedy series earned the most nominations ever for a single season and took home 13 Emmy Awards, setting a new record for wins in a comedy season. Originally debuting in March 2025, Apple TV has confirmed that Season 2, titled The Studio, will premiere in 2026, according to Variety.

The report detailed Lionsgate’s recent financial results and also provided updates on its television projects. It confirmed that the show The Studio, produced by Lionsgate TV, will be released sometime this year, though a firm date hasn’t been set. The report also hinted at a spinoff of The Rookie, which has recently been approved for production.

Given the show’s famous cast and its recent debut last year, it’s great news that Season 2 is coming back so quickly, particularly with how competitive streaming services are right now.

What Happens in The Studio?

The comedy series The Studio is a satire created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. Seth Rogen also stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios, a movie production company.

Matt, a passionate movie lover, is trying to navigate the challenges of working at Continental. He wants to make films he’s proud of, but the company is focused on protecting and profiting from its creative properties in a competitive entertainment industry.

The show featured Catherine O’Hara as Patty Leigh, a former studio executive and Matt’s mentor, alongside Ike Barinholtz as Sal Saperstein, Chase Sui Wonders as Quinn Hackett, and Kathryn Hahn as Maya Mason.

The first season featured a lot of special appearances, including notable actors like Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad, David Krumholtz from Oppenheimer, Keyla Monterroso Mejia from Abbott Elementary, Dewayne Perkins from The Blackening, Nicholas Stoller, creator of Goosebumps, Dave Franco from the Now You See Me films, and Zoë Kravitz from The Batman. Matthew Belloni had a recurring role, and the season also included appearances by Zac Efron, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano, Anthony Mackie, Antony Starr, and many more.

The second season’s cast includes Julia Garner, Madonna, Michael Keaton, and Donald Glover, with more actors still to be announced.

The Studio Is a Certified Hit

With a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 76% audience score, The Studio has become the most-awarded TV series of 2026, following its win at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) TV Awards.

Beyond its impressive 13 Emmy Awards—including wins for Outstanding Comedy and Seth Rogen as Outstanding Lead Actor—The Studio has also received numerous Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, and accolades from prestigious guilds like the Producers Guild, Writers Guild, Directors Guild, and American Cinema Editors, among others.

Everyone is eagerly awaiting Season 2, but Apple TV hasn’t announced the exact story or release date yet. However, it’s expected to arrive sometime this year.

The Studio Season 1 is streaming on Apple TV.
