The mystery series Down Cemetery Road is coming back to Apple TV. It shares a connection with the hit show Slow Horses – both premiered on the same day Slow Horses finished its fifth season. Down Cemetery Road is actually based on a novel by Mick Herron, the author behind Slow Horses.
I’m really excited about this new series! It stars Emma Thompson, who’s incredible – she’s won two Oscars, you know? She plays Zoë Boehm, a private investigator, and the story kicks off when Ruth Wilson’s character, Sarah Trafford, hires her to find a child who’s gone missing after a house explodes. It sounds like a gripping mystery!
Apple TV has ordered a second season of Down Cemetery Road, quickly renewing the show after its first season concluded. Börkur Sigþórsson, the director of the final three episodes of season one (and known for The Midwich Cuckoos), will be the lead director for season two. He’ll be sharing directing responsibilities with Natalie Bailey (Joe vs. Carole) and Sam Donovan (Severance).

Season two brings Zoë Boehm (Thompson) and Sarah Trafford (Wilson) back together to solve a new, disturbing case. When a woman dies after being hit by a train, Zoë begins an investigation that quickly becomes much more complicated. She and Sarah are soon immersed in the dangerous and competitive world of stolen historical artifacts. The case turns even darker when they cross paths with a ruthless serial killer determined to hide the truth.
Emma Thompson, a producer on the series alongside others like Tom Nash and Morwenna Banks, expressed her enthusiasm for the show’s renewal. She’s looking forward to working with Siobhan Wilson and Banks again. Here’s what she had to say:
