Apologies To Disney World And Universal Orlando, But This New Orlando Attraction Is Already Stealing My Heart

Walt Disney had a clear vision when he selected Central Florida for what would become Walt Disney World. But he probably couldn’t have predicted how much the area would grow beyond his original plans. Today, Orlando isn’t just known for Disney World—it’s become the go-to destination for any company hoping to create successful themed entertainment.

Orlando seems to be the place to be for theme parks – from Universal Orlando and SeaWorld to Fun Spot, it’s hard to be in the industry without a presence there! While most visitors head to Disney World or Universal, I’m adding a new stop to my next trip: a place with a Slotharium, something those two major resorts don’t offer.

Sloth World Is Coming To Orlando In 2026

According to Attractions Magazine, Sloth World – a unique center for sloth conservation and education – is planned to open in the Orlando area in 2026. The attraction will feature over 40 sloths living amongst trees, vines, and custom-built structures, offering guests a chance to observe these famously slow-moving animals.

Sloths are truly amazing creatures! They basically live the ultimate relaxed life, often considered the laziest animals around. They sleep around 20 hours a day – except when you see them speeding around in movies like Zootopia! It’s easy to see why they’re so lovable and uniquely cute.

Although Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to many amazing animals, sloths aren’t among them. They haven’t been at the park for several years, meaning Orlando has been without sloths for quite a while. The Central Florida Zoo has just one, which is why Sloth World is so much better – I’ve calculated it’s 40 times better, in fact!

So Many Sloths, So Little Time

Most of us have seen sloths at zoos, and they’re usually just sleeping! But if you see a lot of sloths at once – over 40 – it’s likely at least a few will be awake and active, giving you a chance to actually see one doing something, perhaps for the very first time.

Sloth World, a new attraction, will open on International Drive in Orlando – a popular tourist area known for its entertainment options outside of Disney and Universal. The 7,500 square foot facility is designed to capture the attention of visitors with a bit of free time who are looking for something new and unique, because who can resist adorable sloths?

I’m genuinely excited about Sloth World! It’s the kind of unique and wonderfully strange attraction you can only find in Orlando or similar destinations, and I’m really looking forward to checking it out.
