Andrew Garfield Reacts to ‘Absolutely Ludicrous’ Spider-Man 4 Trailer Rumor

Andrew Garfield dismissed a rumor about the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day as “completely ridiculous” in a recent interview. People have been speculating about whether he might appear in the upcoming Marvel movie, and he even commented on the trailer last month.

Andrew Garfield reveals if he was edited out of Spider-Man 4 trailer

Andrew Garfield explained what happened with his Spider-Man appearing briefly in the trailer for the new movie. He addressed the rumors while talking to Capital FM and also discussed the possibility of being in a future Spider-Man 4 film.

You know, someone asked me about whether Marvel digitally removed Tobey and me from that fight scene with the Hand ninjas, and honestly, it felt like a bit of a stretch of an idea. They were asking about ‘room’ for other characters, and I pointed out there’s really just space under Spider-Man as everyone’s converging on him. I mean, technically there’s room for more people in any shot of a movie, right?

The Oscar-nominated actor strongly denied the rumor, calling it “insane” and a ridiculous attempt at investigative reporting. They expressed disbelief, saying, “You’ve completely lost it!”

Garfield playfully pointed out that he never denied being involved in upcoming Spider-Man projects, jokingly questioning if that made him a “traitor.” He then imagined a future where he’s very old – 98 years old, to be exact – and they’re still making Spider-Man movies, with people still asking him about his role, even while he’s dealing with health issues. He described this hypothetical scenario with a humorous, if slightly graphic, image.

As of today, people are still discussing whether Andrew Garfield will appear in the upcoming Spider-Man film, ‘Brand New Day’. Tom Holland is confirmed to return as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the movie.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuts in US theaters on July 31, 2026.
