An Eagle-Eyed Fan Seemingly Spotted A New Wheel Of Fortune Wedge. Now What Does It Mean?

Among the numerous television premieres scheduled for fall 2025 on small screens, only one seems poised to impact people’s lives with a simple spin of a wheel: Wheel of Fortune. (Although The Price Is Right has its vertical wheels, we’re focusing solely on horizontal ones here.) This iconic game show is getting ready for Season 43, and it appears there’s an intriguing new wedge on the wheel to commemorate the event.

For the very first time, spectators got a sneak peek of the upcoming season when Wheel of Fortune posted a backstage video on Instagram showcasing the updated version of their giant wheel. Take a look at it below and see if you can immediately notice the apparent novelty.

  • Wait, is that a new wedge I see on the wheel? – @iamdanielmcgee
    • Yeah, and it looks like it reads “Year of Fun” on top. I could be wrong thoe. – @germanname1990

Indeed, it appears there’s a freshly labeled wheel segment called “Year of Fun,” sporting some vibrant colors on the slice itself. While someone might rephrase this as “It seems to read ‘Hail to the Fans’,” I would still need clarification about what that phrase means in the context of a game show prize.

Reflecting upon the 50th anniversary since “Wheel of Fortune” first graced our television screens, one might wonder if the game’s prize wedge could hold some special commemoration. Although the prize may not be directly linked to a specific event, it could still symbolize this milestone. As for what form the prize might take and whether it would be grand enough to inspire players to race towards Ryan Seacrest in triumph, those details remain to be seen.

My Guesses For What The “Year Of Fun” Wheel Wedge Means

The show “Wheel of Fortune” often awards large and extravagant prizes during each season, accumulating over time to a significant amount. Such grand prizes might make an extended prize like “A Year of…” seem excessive or even redundant. Unlike a year-long world cruise that circles the globe multiple times (a costly endeavor), it’s unlikely they would offer such an expansive prize. However, if the new prize was something equivalent to a third of the usual $1 million reward, I might reconsider my thoughts. Conversely, it’s also improbable that the prize would be a light-hearted one like “Let’s Make a Deal” providing contestants with a year’s worth of Rice-a-Roni. So, what other prize could they offer?

  • Season tickets for a desired sports team.
  • Concert tickets from a specific arena, or from a specific artist/group.
  • A year’s worth of Broadway tickets.
  • A year-long pass to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando or another major theme park.
  • Free movie tickets (and snacks) for a year from a specific theater chain.
  • The contestant is forced to listen to the band Fun’s two albums on repeat for an entire year.

Alright, among all the suggestions, I’d say the last one seems quite unlikely. However, the rest appear to have potential. Mind you, this doesn’t mean they are definitively correct, but I can’t wait to find out how closely my guesses match the reality!

Another New Wedge May Also Be Involved

From my perspective, directly opposite the “Year of Fun” section appears another wheel space that seems unfamiliar to me, but I might be mistaken. The challenge lies in deciphering the words on this particular wedge, as they are hard to make out clearly.

If you look at it carefully but slightly squinting, the writing seems to hint at Canada, potentially suggesting a trip there for vacation. However, it could also be about canapes, Canton, or cameras. The only definite way to know is by tuning in to your TV when new episodes air.

Season 43 of the popular game show, “Wheel of Fortune,” is set to debut on Monday, September 8, in syndication. Lucky for us fans who frequently miss pre-primetime game shows due to weather reports and local news updates, both “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” will stream the following day, with options to subscribe to Peacock or Hulu.
