It’s been six years since Alita: Battle Angel came out in theaters. While the movie has a loyal fanbase, the studio hasn’t made a sequel a priority. However, the people who made the first film are still working to create a second one – and potentially even a third – to complete the story.
James Cameron recently told Empire that he and director Robert Rodriguez are making headway on the Alita: Battle Angel sequel. He jokingly mentioned they even have a “blood oath” to each other to ensure the movie gets made, highlighting how dedicated they are to continuing the story.
I’m grateful for the dedication of the Alita fans. Robert Rodriguez and I have promised each other we’ll make at least one more Alita movie. We’re even planning a way to potentially continue the story with a third film, though we’d be happy just to get another one made, and we’re currently working on making that happen.
More to come.
