Alan Ritchson and Kevin James star in a new action comedy called Playdate, now streaming on Prime Video. Despite mixed reviews from both viewers and critics, the movie is already gaining popularity with audiences.
As of November 13th, the movie Playdate is currently the most popular title on Prime Video in both the United States and globally, according to FlixPatrol. It’s beating out other films like Tyler Perry’s Finding Joy, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Red One, and Wicked. Despite its popularity on Prime Video, Playdate has received mostly negative reviews from online critics.
Directed by Luke Greenfield and written by Neil Goldman (known for Family Guy), Playdate features Kaley Cuoco as Jeff and Joe Keery as Brian. The story follows Brian as he adjusts to being a stepfather and forms a friendship with Jeff and his son, which unexpectedly leads to an exciting adventure. Currently, the film has a 23% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on reviews from 13 critics, though audiences give it a slightly higher score of 54% based on over 50 ratings.
Reacher Season 4 Update
The movie isn’t perfect throughout, but Jack Ritchson and Isla James are standouts. Ritchson, known for his role as the stoic Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series Reacher, really showcases his comedic talent. The film also stars Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Alan Tudyk, and Stephen Root.
As the popularity of Alan Ritchson’s show grew on streaming platforms, he shared an update on Season 4 of Reacher. In a recent interview, Ritchson revealed that filming was nearly complete, with just one week of shooting remaining. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, Season 4 is anticipated to debut sometime in 2026.
During the same interview, Ritchson described working on Reacher as a demanding experience. He joked that each season ages him like a president leaving the White House, making him feel incredibly worn out. He expressed relief that Season 4 is almost finished, seeing it as a welcome break after a grueling process. Ritchson also hinted that Season 4 will be a departure from previous seasons, calling it the best one yet and expressing his excitement for viewers to see it.
You can now watch Playdate and all three seasons of Reacher on Prime Video. Alan Ritchson will also be in a new Christmas movie called The Man with the Bag alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, but we don’t know when it will be released yet.
