The movie, starring Alan Ritchson, will hit theaters in 2026. It made its debut at the Venice International Film Festival earlier in the year and is notable for having very little spoken dialogue.
RLJE Films, part of the IFC Entertainment Group, has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the movie Motor City. The film will be released in theaters next year. Director Potsy Ponciroli said the following about the deal:
We made Motor City to be a fully engaging experience, with every visual and sound carefully crafted for the big screen. It’s a tribute to Detroit, to the filmmaking style of the 1970s, and to movies that truly resonate with you. It’s a film that reminds you why going to the cinema is special.
Mark Ward, RLJE Films’ Chief Acquisitions Officer, also expressed excitement about the deal, highlighting the film’s quality and its potential for a cinema release.
Motor City is a powerful and stylish film that you won’t soon forget. Director Potsy Ponciroli and a fantastic cast have created an exciting movie experience best enjoyed in a theater.
The new action movie features Ritchson as John Miller, a regular guy from Detroit in the 1970s who finds love with the girlfriend of a dangerous gangster. When Miller is falsely accused and imprisoned, he spends years plotting a brutal revenge after his release.
