The second season of Ahsoka will feature five key villains who are expected to be central to the new Disney+ story. While details about the continuation of the former Jedi’s journey remain scarce, the main characters driving the plot in 2026 have been identified.
As a big Ahsoka fan, I was really intrigued to hear Claudia Black, who played the Great Mother Klothow, talk about Season 2. While she won’t be back herself, she strongly hinted that Klothow will definitely return! Apparently, she and Disney couldn’t come to an agreement on salary – it would have meant moving from Los Angeles to London for filming, and she needed to be able to manage her family commitments. So, they’ll be recasting the role, which is a little sad, but I’m still excited to see what happens with that character!
I want to be upfront about why I won’t be in Season 2. The show was renewed, and I was initially brought back, but Disney couldn’t offer me a salary that would allow me to manage my responsibilities as a single mother in Los Angeles, especially since filming was taking place in London. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t financially feasible, so I had to decline.

Though Rosario Dawson won’t reprise her role as Ahsoka for Season 2, the character will still appear. Star Wars decided to continue using the character, but with a different actor, because Great Mother Klothow requires extensive makeup, making a recast easier. Klothow is a Nightsister from the planet Peridea—one of three witches who practice dark magic and can influence the future. These same witches were responsible for creating Morgan Elsbeth’s unique tattoos and granting her the power known as the Blaze of Talzin.
Returning Villains in Ahsoka Season 2
Grand Admiral Thrawn

Lars Mikkelsen is expected to return as Grand Admiral Thrawn in Season 2 of Ahsoka. He originally played the character in Seasons 3 and 4 of Star Wars Rebels, and then brought him to life in live-action for the first time in the Ahsoka series alongside Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano.
Though Mads Mikkelsen hasn’t spoken about returning for Season 2, Timothy Zahn, the creator of Thrawn and a Star Wars author, has hinted at the character’s future. Even before the show was officially renewed, Zahn suggested that Thrawn would really come into his own and develop further as a villain in the next episodes.
Dave Filoni, head of creative at Lucasfilm, has revealed that Grand Admiral Thrawn will play a significant role throughout most of Season 2. He also hinted that half the season will focus on a massive battle, and that actor Lars Mikkelsen, who portrays Thrawn, will appear much more frequently than he did last season.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I’m so excited to hear that a massive battle is coming – basically, a full-scale war! It’s exactly what I’ve been hoping for, and it sounds like Grand Admiral Thrawn is going to be a major player. We’ll be seeing a lot more of him, which is fantastic!
Thrawn managed to escape Peridea at the end of Season 1, returning to the main galaxy with assistance from Morgan Elsbeth and the witches of Dathomir. Now that he’s back, he’s poised to regain his power and become a major threat to the Rebellion in Season 2.
Baylan Skoll

After the sad passing of Ray Stevenson in 2023, Rory McCann will now play Baylan Skoll in Season 2 of Ahsoka. Skoll was once a Jedi General during the Clone Wars, but he later left the Jedi Order and managed to survive the events of Order 66. He then became a mercenary, choosing to live apart from the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.
Though details about Skoll’s role in Season 2 are still secret, Ray Stevenson’s successor, McCann, discussed joining the Star Wars universe with ComicBook.com in May 2025. He felt it was the correct choice to continue Baylan Skoll’s story following Stevenson’s passing and promised to honor the character to the best of his ability.
Continuing his story feels like the right move, rather than ending it abruptly. We’ve successfully handled similar situations in the past, and I’m hopeful the fans will enjoy where it goes. I’m committed to making it work.
Season 2 begins with Skoll still stuck on the planet Peridea. We last saw him standing on the hand of a giant statue of the Mortis God. It appears he’s found what he was looking for, which will likely give him new insights and direction as the season unfolds.
Shin Hati

In the upcoming second season of Ahsoka, Ivanna Sakhno will return as Shin Hati, a newer villain in the series. Last season, she trained under Baylan Skoll and fought Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren, but Skoll left her stranded on the planet Peridea.
In an August 2025 interview with TopMob, Sakhno talked about filming the latest season and creating scenes between her character, Shin Hati, and Baylan Skoll. She fondly mentioned seeing Rory often during filming, and shared that she avoided revealing any details about their characters. She also praised Rory’s dedication to his role.
Though Skoll left Hati at the end of last season, the creator hinted that their relationship will change in the new season. We might see them team up in a different way, but first they need to escape Peridea and return to their original world.
Anakin Skywalker

Hayden Christensen is returning to the Star Wars universe as Anakin Skywalker! He appeared in three episodes of Ahsoka Season 1, and is anticipated to have a significantly larger role as the iconic villain, Darth Vader, in Season 2.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Hayden Christensen shared that while he can’t reveal much about his Season 2 role, he’s “very excited” to reprise his character after Star Wars Celebration 2025. He also expressed feeling “even more connected to Anakin now,” explaining that with age, he’s able to “understand his struggles in a deeper way.”
I feel a stronger connection to Anakin now than ever before. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of his challenges. He’s a character I truly cherish, and I’m excited to continue exploring his story.
Episode 5 of Ahsoka finally gave Hayden Christensen the chance to truly showcase Anakin Skywalker, bringing their Clone Wars relationship to life in a way fans had long hoped for (with brief appearances in other episodes as well). While Anakin will likely appear as a Force Ghost in Season 2, viewers are eager to see more of him as both the Jedi he once was and the imposing Darth Vader, interacting with Ahsoka Tano.
The second season of Ahsoka will continue the story of Rosario Dawson as the former Jedi, Ahsoka Tano. The new season, also featuring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Rory McCann, David Tennant, and Hayden Christensen, is predicted to center around Ahsoka and her allies trying to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn from gaining power and returning to their galaxy. Ahsoka Season 2 is currently slated for release on Disney+ in 2026.
