Lucasfilm has revealed the seven main characters for the second season of Ahsoka. After a year off with Skeleton Crew, the Star Wars universe is expanding again with two new projects. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22nd, and Ahsoka Season 2 will arrive on Disney+ later this year – over three years after its initial debut in 2023. The series features Rosario Dawson as the iconic Ahsoka Tano, alongside the characters from Rebels’ Ghost Crew, all appearing in live-action for the first time.
The newest issue of Star Wars Insider (Issue 235) revealed that Season 2 of Disney+’s Ahsoka will center around seven key characters – both heroes and villains – who will drive the story forward. This builds on the show’s second season from 2023.

Rosario Dawson will return as the older Ahsoka Tano in the second season of her Disney+ series. Although she and others are currently stuck on the planet Peridea, her main goal will likely be finding a way home – but not before exploring and uncovering some intriguing secrets while she’s there, and ultimately facing off against Thrawn.
Although many fans were hoping for a larger role, Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker won’t be a central character in Season 2. However, he will return to support Ahsoka’s journey, following her vision of him as a Force ghost on Peridea. It leaves fans curious about whether he still has important lessons to impart to her, even from beyond the grave.

As a big fan of the Star Wars universe, I’m really excited about Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s role in Ahsoka Season 2. She’s playing Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior who’s a total standout character – she’s incredibly creative, a bit of a rebel, and was a key member of the Ghost Crew in the Rebels series. I’m expecting her to be a major player in the new season!
Sabine is currently stuck on Peridea with Ahsoka and Huyang, but this situation gives her a chance to focus on Jedi training, especially now that she has a lightsaber. This training could eventually lead to a showdown with Shin Hati.

Most fans probably don’t realize that David Tennant, known for his roles in Doctor Who and Jessica Jones, is also involved with Star Wars – he provides the voice for the droid professor Huyang.
Huyang is an ancient Jedi Master who has dedicated millennia to training young Jedi, especially in the art of lightsaber construction. Now, he’s found himself unexpectedly stranded on Peridea alongside Ahsoka and Sabine. Hopefully, his vast experience and knowledge will prove crucial in helping them find a way back home.

Ivanna Sakhno plays Shin Hati, a young apprentice who followed Baylan Skoll to the distant galaxy of Peridea. However, Baylan left her stranded there. While Baylan explores Peridea and uncovers surprising things, Hati was last shown getting ready to lead a band of outlaws across the alien landscape.
I really think by Season 2, Shin Hati will be firmly in charge of her bandit group. She’ll likely use them to control things on Peridea – not just people like Ahsoka and Sabine who are stuck there, but also the native inhabitants. It feels like she’s building towards becoming a real power player on that planet.

Baylan Skoll quickly became a popular character in the first season of Ahsoka, largely due to his intriguing history as a Jedi who became a mercenary. Sadly, the actor who played Skoll, Ray Stevenson, passed away before the season was released. However, the character will continue in the series, now played by Rory McCann, known for his role in Game of Thrones. Fans got their first glimpse of McCann as Skoll last October.
Season 2 will continue the story right after the dramatic ending of the last season, with Baylan searching for an old, powerful force on the planet Peridea. This force seems to be connected to the Mortis gods – three incredibly powerful beings who embody the balance of the Force. What Baylan learns about them could be key to what happens next in the story of Ahsoka.

Lars Mikkelsen is returning as Grand Admiral Thrawn in Season 2 of Ahsoka. Both he and Ezra Bridger are back in the main part of the galaxy.
Star Wars fans are aware that groups of Imperial loyalists still exist throughout the galaxy, and they’ll likely rally to Grand Admiral Thrawn when he returns. However, a major confrontation between these forces probably won’t happen until a planned crossover movie – inspired by the Heir to the Empire storyline and connecting the various MandoVerse shows – and there are concerns that this movie might not happen at all due to issues at Lucasfilm.

The series Ahsoka featured the return of Ezra Bridger, played by Eman Esfandi, after being lost for years. Ezra had been stranded on the planet Peridea, and his return allowed him to reunite with Hera, who acted as a mother figure to him.
Ezra is likely wrestling with guilt over leaving people behind and is determined to both rescue them and stop Thrawn. Additionally, actor Eman Esfandi has significantly changed his appearance for the second season of Ahsoka, shaving off his beard.
Ahsoka Season 2‘s Other Major Players
As a big fan of Ahsoka, I was excited to hear from creator Dave Filoni about Season 2! He said four characters are going to have much larger roles, which is awesome. It’s a little strange that two of them weren’t mentioned in the recent Star Wars Insider article, but it doesn’t mean they won’t be important. It just makes me think they might not be quite as central to the story as the seven characters we already know and love.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character, Hera Syndulla, will have a much bigger role in Season 2, playing a key part in the unfolding events. Fans can expect to see a lot more of her this season.
Now that Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned, Hera and Ezra are preparing for the conflict to come. It’s likely Hera will gather forces to oppose Thrawn, while simultaneously working to save those stranded on Peridea.

According to Dave Filoni, the fan-favorite astromech droid Chopper will be involved in some surprisingly intense and chaotic events in the second episode of Ahsoka. He’ll also have a significantly larger role overall, a change made in response to feedback from viewers.

A fan-favorite character, Zeb Orrelios, who was absent in the first season, will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series. Set within the larger Star Wars timeline, the story shows Zeb working with the New Republic. His return in The Mandalorian & Grogu will serve as a lead-in to Season 2 of Ahsoka, revealing more about his role at this point in the story.
