After Snow White Brouhaha, Gal Gadot Shares Thoughts On Possibly Playing The Evil Queen Again

Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White, a highly anticipated film scheduled for 2025, received a lot of attention this year, but not all of it was good. The film, directed by Marc Webb, didn’t perform well in theaters, and there’s been much discussion about why. Some believe the poor performance was due to controversies involving the two lead actresses, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. Now, after the film’s release, Gadot is discussing whether she would play the Evil Queen again in the future.

What Did Gal Gadot Say About Possibly Returning As The Evil Queen?

Just like in the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Evil Queen is the villain in the new movie. Disney has been bringing back its famous villains in many different ways lately, even giving some of them their own standalone films, such as Maleficent and Cruella. So, when Gal Gadot was at the Women’s Guild Cedars-Sinai Snow Ball Gala and spoke with Us Weekly, she was asked if she would be interested in starring in a movie focused on her character. Gadot didn’t hesitate to answer.

I would love to do that. Yes. Tell [Disney CEO] Bob [Iger]. Bob, I’ll do that.

Despite the mixed reaction to this year’s Snow White movie, Gal Gadot seems eager to play the Evil Queen again. Any potential sequel would likely need to be a prequel, since her character dies in the recent film. While writers could potentially find a way to bring her back, a new movie focusing on the Queen feels unlikely given the controversy surrounding the remake.

Why Was Snow White Wrapped Up In Controversies?

The upcoming film Snow faced significant criticism online for several reasons. Controversy arose from Rachel Zegler’s statements about modernizing the main character and the changes made to the depiction of the seven dwarfs. Discussions also focused on the opinions shared by both Zegler and Gal Gadot. Zegler received negative reactions for publicly supporting Gaza during the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and for past criticisms of former U.S. President Donald Trump on social media.

As a Disney+ fan, I’m excited to share how affordable it is to get started! You can begin streaming favorites like the new Snow White and all the live-action remakes for as little as $11.99 a month with ads. If you prefer no ads, it’s $18.99 a month. Or, if you really want to save, you can pay $189.99 upfront for a whole year – that’s like getting 16% off! I think it’s a fantastic deal for all the amazing content.

Let’s talk about Gal Gadot and the surprisingly tough reception to Snow White. She definitely faced some heat online for her views on the Israel-Palestine conflict, which put her at odds with a lot of other stars. And she’s been pretty open about being disappointed with how the film performed at the box office – it made around $205 million worldwide, but cost somewhere between $240 and $270 million to make. Initially, there was some talk about political reasons affecting the film’s success, but she’s since clarified that it wasn’t just about that – it was a combination of factors that led to its underperformance.

Movie industry experts dismissed the idea that the Disney film failed because of supposed “woke” content. Whatever the reasons for its disappointing performance, it doesn’t look promising for a sequel or a spin-off featuring Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. However, if Disney’s Bob Iger and his team decide to pursue another film in the future, Gadot appears willing and available to return.

You can now watch Snow White on Disney+, along with many other movies. Stay tuned for news about future Disney film releases!
