Recently, former pro dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy publicly criticized new pro Jan Ravnik, and Ravnik’s celebrity partner appeared to react to the comments.

What Did Maks Chmerkovskiy Say?

Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced professionally on Dancing with the Stars for 15 seasons, starting with Season 2. He won the show’s coveted Mirrorball trophy once, in Season 18, with Meryl Davis. Recently, on his wife Peta Murgatroyd’s podcast, The Penthouse with Peta, Chmerkovskiy talked in detail about the show’s challenging routines, particularly those on ‘Wicked’ night. He was very outspoken about the addition of Ravnik, who had previously danced with Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour, and made it clear he wasn’t pleased with the decision.

I honestly don’t understand why Jan is on Dancing With the Stars. They don’t seem to have any basic dance skills, and their partnership with their pro dancer isn’t working. It’s frustrating because it feels like people are ignoring what’s so obvious, and it’s hard to be honest about it.

Maksim and Val agreed that Ravnik is a gifted dancer, but lacks formal ballroom training. They explained that learning ballroom dancing is challenging enough without also teaching someone else. Despite this, Ravnik gained significant attention – and became a fan favorite – during The Eras Tour due to his appearance and many viral moments, which likely prompted ABC to offer him a spot on the show. However, Affleck seems to be defending her partner’s abilities.

Jen Affleck Appeared To Issue A Response

A star from the show Secret Lives of Mormon Wives appeared to support Jan Ravnik in a TikTok video. Both Affleck and Ravnik have been posting rehearsal videos, and a recent one showed Affleck responding to criticism of Ravnik. The video, captioned “Me when anyone talks trash about Jan,” features Affleck intensely typing on her phone with Ravnik standing nearby, set to audio saying, “Take it down.” However, Affleck doesn’t seem interested in backing down.

It’s heartwarming to see how close Affleck and Ravnik have gotten recently, and Affleck clearly wouldn’t hesitate to support her partner publicly. Some people have been unsure about Ravnik, possibly because he’s known for dancing with Taylor Swift. However, he’s a very experienced dancer beyond just The Eras Tour—otherwise, he wouldn’t have landed that role or be competing on Dancing with the Stars.
