Prime Video has found a winning formula: action-packed original series. Viewers clearly love them, and the streaming service consistently delivers multi-season action shows. With its return planned for 2026, this particular series, now in its fourth season, continues to improve and captivate audiences.
How Prime Video’s 4-Season Superhero Series Keeps Getting Better
Invincible is an adult animated superhero series based on the popular comic book by Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead. The first season premiered on Prime Video on March 25, 2021, and the fourth season will be released on March 18, 2024 – almost exactly five years later.
The animated series Invincible boasts an impressive cast, featuring well-known actors like Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Walton Goggins, Mark Hamill, and Gillian Jacobs. The show continues to attract top talent with each new season. Notably, Lee Pace, known for his role in Foundation, will join Invincible season 4 as Thragg, who is set to be the franchise’s main villain.
One of the things that makes Invincible so consistently good is how the show matures alongside its main character, Mark Grayson. He begins as a teen just learning about his abilities, and now, after experiencing significant loss and hardship, he’s a much more hardened hero. Plus, the show’s critical reception has been incredible: after earning a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season, seasons 2 and 3 both achieved a perfect 100% score.
Invincible Season 4 Is Worth Watching
If you need a quick reminder of how season 3 of Invincible ended, you’ll definitely want to check out season 4 of the Prime Video series. As previously mentioned, Lee Pace is joining the cast as Thragg, the most powerful and dangerous villain in the Invincible comics. Considering his impressive performance as a villain in Foundation, he’s sure to be fantastic in this role.
Following a near-fatal confrontation between Mark and Conquest, Cecil made the questionable decision to keep the villain alive in prison. This is likely to have serious consequences. Meanwhile, Damien Darkblood is returning after a long hiatus, with a storyline originally intended for the comics but never published. The story also hinted at future appearances from the Sequids, Battle Beast, and Angstrom Levy. Finally, Mark declared he would kill anyone who threatens his family, a decision that drastically changed the course of Invincible.
