After 4-Year Wait, Euphoria’s Future Beyond Season 3 Gets Encouraging Update

HBO chief Casey Bloys is serious about the future of Euphoria. He recently shared an intriguing update about Sam Levinson’s hit show, suggesting that the current season, which many believe is the last, might not be the final chapter for Rue and the rest of the characters.

According to HBO’s Casey Bloys, Sam Levinson is wrapping up the third season of Euphoria and has devised a compelling way to advance the characters’ storylines by five years. Bloys also confirmed rumors that Levinson has ideas for a possible fourth season.

He said they’ll discuss his future plans soon, but right now, his priority is completing his current project and releasing it.

While enthusiastically promoting the upcoming third season of the show, set to debut on April 12th, Bloys was more cautious when asked if the now-famous cast of Euphoria – including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and Hunter Schafer – would be interested in returning for a potential fourth season.

I can’t discuss that at all,” Bloys stated. “We need to understand Sam’s vision – what he wants to create with the show, and with his career overall. He’s currently focused on Season 3, and I need to talk with him to figure out his plans for the future.”

Euphoria’s Third Season Is A Lot Less Mysterious

While the future of Euphoria is still uncertain, details about the next season are emerging. The new episodes, filmed throughout much of last year, will follow Zendaya’s Rue, Hunter Elordi’s Nate, Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie, Alexa Demie’s Maddy, and Barbie Ferreira’s Jules as they deal with the challenges of adulthood, including sex work and the repercussions of their previous choices, several years after graduating from East Highland High School.

Even though several fan favorites won’t be back for the third season of Euphoria – including Barbie Ferreira as Kat, the late Angus Cloud as Fezco, and Rue’s mother and sister, played by Nika King and Storm Reid – Martha Kelly will return as drug dealer Laurie, along with Chole Cherry as Faye and Coleman Domingo as Ali, Rue’s sponsor.

The HBO show Euphoria first aired in 2019, and its second season was released in 2022. While a third season was announced in 2022, it has been delayed due to issues like the Hollywood strikes and difficulties coordinating schedules with its popular actors.

The first two seasons of Euphoria are available to stream on HBO Max. Season 3 debuts on Apr. 12
