Though a potential movie featuring Adam Driver as Kylo Ren was scrapped, he’s returning to screens with a new TV project on Netflix. A planned Star Wars film directed by Steven Soderbergh, which would have continued Kylo Ren’s story in a movie called The Hunt for Ben Solo, was recently canceled by Disney’s Bob Iger. This new Netflix series offers fans another way to see Driver reprise the role.
The news that a potential series, The Hunt for Ben Solo, almost happened has caused a huge reaction from Star Wars fans. They’ve even started a campaign to revive the project, with efforts including a billboard in Times Square and a flyover of Disney Studios. Many are hoping Disney CEO Bob Iger will consider their enthusiasm and allow the series, directed by Soderbergh, to move forward. However, Adam Driver currently has another promising project in development.
Adam Driver’s New Netflix TV Series Gives Him Another Anti-Hero Role
I’m so excited! Adam Driver is coming back to television! It’s been a while since Girls ended, and he’s signed on for a new crime thriller on Netflix called Rabbit, Rabbit. It’s being created by Peter Craig, who worked on The Batman and Top Gun: Maverick, and apparently, Adam will be playing an escaped convict who takes hostages to try and negotiate his release. Sounds intense!
The upcoming Netflix series, Rabbit, Rabbit, centers around Adam Driver’s character, an escaped convict, who unexpectedly gets caught in a high-stakes poker game with a skilled negotiator. The show’s description suggests it will tell the story from the convict’s point of view, rather than that of the police, putting Driver back in the role of a complex, morally ambiguous protagonist.
Rabbit, Rabbit Is A Better Next Project For Adam Driver Than The Canceled Star Wars Movie
While many fans would have loved to see Adam Driver reprise his role as Kylo Ren—and Disney could still change its mind—it’s even more exciting that he’s returning to television as a brand new, complex character. He proved his talent for playing morally gray individuals in Star Wars, and honestly, there isn’t much left to explore with that character anyway.
I’m really intrigued by Rabbit, Rabbit. It seems like Adam Driver gets to play a wonderfully complex character, someone who isn’t simply good or bad, and explores the fallout of his choices. Knowing John Craig is directing, I’m expecting a lot of suspense and twists. It’s not a galaxy far, far away, but honestly, I’m craving something original right now, and this series feels like it could be exactly that – a genuinely new story.
