Aca-Believe It: Anna Kendrick Turned 40, And As A Millennial Myself, I Am Reeling

In my early thirties, being part of the millennial generation, I don’t feel particularly old, but events have been piling up that, as Westworld so vividly depicted, are making me feel a bit more seasoned. First, Macaulay Culkin went viral admitting he was 40. Then, the Harry Potter cast began having children. Following that, Millie Bobby Brown from Gen Z had to explain polaroid photos to Chris Pratt, and I felt a small piece of myself slip away. Now, Anna Kendrick has turned 40 and it’s left me in a bit of shock.

It’s quite odd to see Anna Kendrick, who was once a young actress in movies like Twilight and Pitch Perfect, now appear as a middle-aged adult. Despite the passage of time, it feels strange that she no longer plays characters of similar age, instead depicting more mature roles. I guess I still mentally associate her with the fresh-faced newcomer from Up In The Air (a film I’ve just realized came out in 2009). Oops!

It’s clear to me now that I shouldn’t be so oblivious. After watching the recent sequel to “Another Simple Favor,” I understood that she portrayed a mother of an older child in the movie. Time has certainly moved on, but it still took me by surprise when I came across her 40th birthday post.

It’s clear as day that she carries her forty years with grace and panache. From her captivating one-piece swimsuit to her glamorous mini dress, and even her elegant evening gown adorned with intricate neck detailing, she embodies the essence of a woman who is not just forty, but forty, flirty, and thriving. I must admit, posts like these have been a delightful trend in recent years, as millennial icons such as Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian have gracefully embraced their forties with style and confidence.

Anna Kendrick’s career is also prospering, with recent endeavors such as voicing characters in the universes of ‘Trolls’ and ‘ParaNorman,’ and a film titled ‘Misty Green,’ directed by Chris Rock, which is currently being made.

I’m eagerly anticipating the next movie projects from Ms. Kendrick, and while we wait, let me share one more tale about reaching the age of 40. If you, like myself, are approaching or have entered the era known as millennial middle age, it might seem unbelievable, but here we are. Interestingly, Seth Meyers has expressed the advantages of turning 40, stating that the years 40-50 were superior to 30-40 for him. So let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that life becomes even more rewarding as we step into this new phase. If Anna Kendrick serves as an example, perhaps all it takes to embrace it is a sparkly dress.
