Wow, I’m a huge Superman fan, and it looks like the Absolute edition just introduced a villain that could actually challenge him! Seriously, it feels like there’s no way out of this fight – it’s going to be epic!

In Absolute Superman #19, from creators Jason Aaron, Rafa Sandoval, Ulises Arreola, and Becca Carey, Superman faces a huge threat in Metropolis. Ra’s al Ghul had imprisoned King Shazam (also known as Teth Adam) in his tower, but Shazam has broken free. Now, even Superman is struggling to contain Shazam’s incredible power and rage.

DC Comics’ Absolute Superman #19 introduces King Shazam, a powerful new threat unlike anything Superman has encountered. The story explores King Shazam’s connection to Brainiac and the enigmatic Father Box, and also features the first appearance of another classic character in the Absolute universe – it’s currently unclear whether they will help or hinder Superman.

Black Adam’s Significance In DC Comics, Explained

Issue #18 of Absolute Superman offered a look into the backstory of this version of the character. Similar to past depictions, this universe’s Black Adam, known as King Shazam, comes from Ancient Egypt. He almost achieved the power and leadership he always desired, becoming a truly formidable force.

Black Adam is currently facing off against incredibly powerful opponents like Superman and John Henry Irons, and it’s unclear how much destruction he’ll cause before someone can stop him. Though King Shazam isn’t the biggest problem for the Absolute Universe at the moment, he could quickly become a major threat.

The heroes of the Absolute Universe haven’t really interacted much yet, but that’s about to change with their first big crossover event. While details are still secret, fans already know which heroes will be initiating the call to action when the event begins.

The upcoming crossover event will be led by the Absolute Martian Manhunter, uniting heroes from different universes. According to Geoff Johns, Jason Aaron, the writer of Absolute Superman, will be writing the main story, but the entire plot is being developed collaboratively. Deniz Camp, the writer of Absolute Martian Manhunter, is part of this team, contributing Martian Manhunter’s perspective and helping to shape the overall narrative. It’s a true team effort, with everyone working together to create the story.

Absolute Superman #19 from DC Comics is on sale now.
