The latest issue of Absolute Batman, #13, has surprised fans by revealing a popular character as the leader of the Red Hood gang. This version of the character has a completely redesigned appearance compared to their traditional look in the main DC comics, offering a fresh take on the Red Hood group.
Absolute Batman #13 introduces Harley Quinn with a twist
A surprising reveal in Absolute Batman #13 shows Harley Quinn is actually in charge of the Red Hood gang. This group is usually linked to Jason Todd, who becomes the Red Hood, and also to the Joker.
This version of Harley Quinn has a strikingly different appearance than usual. She’s traded her classic style for a shaved head and bold tattoos – diamonds around her eyes and hands, and a checkered pattern down her neck. Unlike her typically flamboyant outfits, Absolute Harley sports a more relaxed, casual look. She’s wearing shorts with a white t-shirt and black vest, completed by an oversized red hoodie, red sneakers, and checkered socks. She’s armed with a pair of nunchucks.
Things really get wild when Batman and Catwoman are fighting the Red Hood gang. Suddenly, the Venom that’s been building up inside Batman from his fight with Bane kicks in, and it looks like things are about to get out of control. Luckily, Batman manages to talk everyone down by laying out his whole plan – how he intends to take down Bane and Arkham. It actually seems to get through to the leader, and that’s when Harley Quinn steps forward. Though she *seems* to be in charge of the Red Hood, I’m expecting we’ll see Jason Todd and the other former Robins show up later in the series, and that’s where things will *really* get interesting.
Scott Snyder is still writing the ongoing Absolute Batman story, with Nick Dragotta providing the artwork.
