Ira Parker gives A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 update

Ira Parker, the showrunner for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, announced that Season 2 is now in development. The show was already picked up for another season before the first one even aired, which allowed the team to start working on it immediately without any delays.

In a recent interview with the AV Club, Parker revealed that the upcoming season of the show will be based on “The Sworn Sword,” the second story in George R.R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series. He explained that this story will introduce several important characters, including Rohanne Webber (also known as the Red Widow), Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace, whom he considers classic characters from the source material. He also mentioned that “The Sworn Sword” is his favorite story in the series.

The showrunner shared that they’ve cast three incredibly talented actors for upcoming roles and are already starting to edit footage. They’re pleased with how season two is shaping up, and the directors are beginning to review early cuts.

Parker discussed how unique it was to continue making the show while the first season was already being watched by audiences. He explained that releasing episodes while still in production was actually a positive thing, helping the creative team stay focused on their work instead of getting caught up in immediate reactions.

The first season of the show is based on ‘The Hedge Knight,’ a story featuring the characters Dunk and Egg. The events of another story, ‘The Sworn Sword,’ happen about a year and a half afterward. HBO gave the green light for a second season in November 2025, just before the first season began airing.
