Invincible Low-Key Debuts A Villain Stronger Than Any Viltrumite

The world of Invincible is full of incredibly strong characters, but a recent addition might be even more powerful than the Viltrumites. Viltrumites are already known as some of the galaxy’s strongest beings, and an entire episode was dedicated to proving how hard they are to defeat. However, in a recent episode, Mark may have stumbled upon a new enemy who appears to be completely invulnerable, potentially offering a way to overcome even the Viltrumites.

The fourth episode of Invincible season 4 has been met with a divided response, largely because it significantly slows down the main storyline. The episode brings back Damien Darkblood, who hasn’t appeared since his exile in season 1, and pulls Mark into Hell. Damien needs assistance battling a new threat trying to seize control of Hell, believing Omni-Man is the only one who can help. This leads to Mark being unexpectedly transported away from his current challenges and into a confrontation with one of Invincible‘s strongest foes deep beneath the Earth.

Volcanikka Seems Impossible To Beat In Invincible Season 4, Episode 4

Volcanikka is a powerful new villain introduced in season 4, episode 4 of Invincible. She’s a survivor from a very ancient time on Earth and blames both demons and humans for what happened to her people. Her goal is to defeat Satan and take over the Under Realm, which she intends to use as a base to increase her power and eventually attack the surface world.

Volcanikka poses a significant danger to Hell because of her powerful abilities. She’s a highly skilled combatant who has repeatedly defeated demons from the Under Realm, both on screen and in battles not shown. She can manipulate lava and the rocky landscape to harm her enemies, turning them into molten rock. Furthermore, she commands a large army consisting of Magmanites and the Vile, using her countless soldiers to fight against Satan.

I watched as Damien realized he couldn’t take on Volcanikka by himself, so he called for Invincible’s help. After Damien and Mark managed to get Satan’s crown back, they thought they had a chance and went back into the fight. But Volcanikka was incredibly powerful! She was easily defeating demons left and right, and even almost took down the newly powered-up Satan immediately. It looked bad, but Mark actually punched her head clean off! Unfortunately, that didn’t finish her. Her head just kept growing back, and after being decapitated multiple times, she finally sank into the lava of the Under Realm and vanished.

The battle with Mark clearly showed just how impossible Volcanikka is to defeat, only being temporarily weakened. The demons’ best strategy is to simply delay her, as her inability to be killed makes her incredibly dangerous. This makes Volcanikka one of the most powerful villains in Invincible, possessing a level of invulnerability that even surpasses that of the Viltrumites.

Volcanikka Is Set Up To Return After The Viltrumite War

As a huge fan of Invincible, I’m really hoping we haven’t seen the last of Volcanikka. Her story feels unfinished, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her pop up again down the line. But honestly, after that episode 4 finale, it’s become pretty clear that the Viltrumite War is going to be the show’s main focus for a while. That means we probably won’t be heading back to Damien or the Under Realm anytime soon, though with this Volcanikka arc being original content – not from the comics – anything could happen, and the showrunners could always surprise us!

Volcanikka vowed to come back, so this conflict isn’t finished. While it’s unclear if Mark will participate, Satan’s plan to reach the surface suggests Mark will likely battle creatures from the Fourth and Fifth Ages in future installments of Invincible.
