Rumor: Sony Making 2 Spider-Man Spin-offs After Spider-Punk & Spider-Verse 3

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m buzzing with excitement about potential new animated adventures in Sony’s Marvel universe, specifically revolving around everyone’s favorite web-slinger – Spider-Man! Rumors are swirling that Sony Pictures Animation is cooking up several spinoffs, one of which promises to focus on the rebellious Spider-Punk character. This could be a significant leap beyond the Spider-Verse trilogy, hinting at an even broader Marvel animated landscape ahead!

Spider-Punk and Spider-Verse 3 could be followed by Venom and Spider-Woman

Based on the formal declaration, a Spider-Punk animated movie featuring Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh as co-writers is underway. As per Daniel Richtman’s recent update on X (previously Twitter), there are also plans for an animated Spider-Women and Venom movies in the pipeline.

According to a recent update from @MyTimeToShineHello, Sony is working on a standalone animated movie featuring Venom. Previously, it was announced in March 2024 by @CanWeGetToast that Seth Rogen would be joining the project as both writer and producer.

The news was disseminated through Toonado.com. Seth Rogen’s previous works in adult comic adaptations encompass Preacher, The Boys, Invincible, and The Boys Presents: Diabolical. It is rumored that the animated Venom movie will be rated R, contrasting with the PG-13 tone of the live-action trilogy.

In a 2023 interview with Polygon, Rogen admitted his reservations about collaborating with Marvel and DC, explaining, “Frankly, it’s more like fear… I’m mainly afraid of fitting into their established system… We’re quite particular about how things are run!” He later emphasized, “We’re the ones in charge of this project. So we decide the rules.

The Last Dance,” which was the third film in the series starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. This movie marked the end of Tom Hardy’s role as Eddie Brook. Venom first appeared in “The Amazing Spider-Man #300” comic book back in 1988, with Eddie Brock serving as the original host. After him, characters like Mac Gargan, Flash Thompson, and Dylan Brock also took on this role.

It’s currently unknown when Sony plans to start producing or release their animated Venom film. There have been indications that the Spider-Woman project is ongoing, but the studio hasn’t officially verified this information yet.

Sony has scheduled Beyond the Spider-Verse to release on June 25, 2027.
