Following the huge success of his sci-fi film, Project Hail Mary, Ryan Gosling continues to make his mark in the genre. The movie, which also stars the Blade Runner 2049 actor, has broken box-office records in its first week, earning $80.5 million in the US and $140.9 million globally. This makes Project Hail Mary the highest-grossing film of the year so far, and it’s already the sixth-highest-grossing movie of 2026 – a position it’s expected to improve upon in the weeks to come.
Ryan Gosling is reportedly joining forces with the directors of the acclaimed film Everything Everywhere All at Once for his next science fiction movie. After considering an adaptation of Andy Weir’s work, Gosling will star in a new, currently unnamed “event film” by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as Daniels. The directing duo recently won seven Academy Awards for Everything Everywhere All at Once, including Best Picture and Best Director, and are now embarking on their next creative venture.

Not much is known about the new movie yet. Ryan Gosling is confirmed to star, and filming is planned for this summer in Los Angeles. The project has been in the works with Universal Pictures since at least 2024. Gosling was the first actor linked to the film, following the success of Project Hail Mary. The directing team, known as Daniels, are famous for their creative and daring style. Considering their previous film, Everything Everywhere All at Once, fans can either anticipate something completely unexpected or have no idea what’s coming next.
This is a developing story with more details to follow.
