Okay, so after its time in cinemas, the movie is now available to rent or buy digitally, and let me tell you, it’s blown up! It immediately became one of the most popular titles people are watching at home – a real hit right out of the gate.
According to FlixPatrol, the movie Send Help is currently the most popular film on the Apple TV store, beating out James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash and the animated film GOAT. This achievement happened only a day after Send Help became available for rental or purchase on demand.
Send Help Earned High Praise From Critics & Audiences
Released on January 30th, “Send Help” has become a financial and critical success. The R-rated horror comedy earned over $93 million globally on a $40 million budget, and critics have given it rave reviews – it currently holds a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences also giving it a strong 87% score.
The new thriller Send Help features a talented cast including Rachel McAdams (known from Doctor Strange), Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner), Edyll Ismail (La Brea), Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga), Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), and Dennis Haysbert (24). It’s directed by Sam Raimi, the acclaimed horror director behind Drag Me to Hell.
Okay, so picture this: a worker and her boss are the only survivors of a plane crash, finding themselves completely stranded. At first, they try to work together to get through it, but things quickly devolve into a really twisted power struggle. This isn’t just a survival story, though. Send Help definitely has its funny moments – it’s a dark comedy, really – but don’t expect a lighthearted experience. Director Sam Raimi doesn’t shy away from the gruesome stuff, so horror fans will get their fix too. It’s a surprisingly bloody ride!
Sam Raimi Fans Will Love Send Help
Brooks highlighted that what makes Send Help special is its focus on realistic consequences. Every decision the characters make – from eating insects to gathering water or taking chances – has immediate effects. The film manages to be both surprisingly educational and gripping, prompting viewers to consider survival techniques without feeling like they’re being taught a lesson. It’s a tense, informative, and deeply immersive experience.
Following the 2022 Marvel film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Send Help marked director Sam Raimi’s return to directing. He hadn’t directed a film in nearly ten years, since Oz the Great and Powerful came out in 2013. His last horror film was Drag Me to Hell, released in 2009. Though he hasn’t directed much recently, Raimi has remained involved in the horror genre as a producer, including the upcoming Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath movies.
Send Help is available on PVOD.
