Jennifer Garner Developing ’13 Going on 13′ Reboot as Executive Producer for Netflix

Jennifer Garner is known for many great roles, including appearances in films like Dallas Buyers Club, Juno, and as Elektra in three different Marvel movies (Daredevil in 2003, Elektra in 2005, and Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024). But the movie people still talk about the most is the popular 2004 romantic comedy, 13 Going on 30. In the film, Garner plays Jenna Rink, a teenager who magically wakes up as a 30-year-old woman in 2004, working as a fashion editor in New York City. She quickly realizes that her adult life isn’t what she imagined, which creates problems with her family and friends.

The first movie starred Jennifer Garner with Mark Ruffalo (who you might recognize from the recent Spider-Man: Brand New Day), Judy Greer (Jurassic World), and Andy Serkis (known for the Planet of the Apes films). Although a sequel never materialized, the film has become increasingly popular over time. Now, fans are finally getting a new version of the story, and one of the original stars will be returning!

Netflix is bringing back the beloved movie 13 Going on 30 with a new reboot. Brett Haley, who directed the Netflix film People We Meet on Vacation, will be directing. Excitingly, Jennifer Garner, the star of the original 2004 film, will be an executive producer on the project. It’s currently unknown if she will also appear on screen.

Sony Pictures Releasing

Emily Bader and Logan Lerman will star as the two main characters in the upcoming movie, though their character names haven’t been revealed yet. Bader has worked with the director before, appearing in People We Meet on Vacation, and has also been in My Lady Jane and Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin. Lerman is well-known for playing Percy Jackson in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians films from 2010 and 2013, and he’s also appeared in popular movies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2010) and Fury (2014).

Although 13 Going on 30 was originally created by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, it’s still unclear if Netflix will significantly alter the story or characters in its upcoming reboot. With Jennifer Garner involved, however, fans are hopeful she’ll ensure the new version stays true to the spirit of the 2004 film. As more cast members are announced and details emerge, the picture will become clearer, promising a fresh and exciting romantic comedy – something many viewers are craving.
