The show could be returning. Despite having a satisfying conclusion in 2021, rumors are circulating about a possible revival.
The comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine first aired in 2013, introducing Andre Braugher as Captain Raymond Holt, the new leader of the 99th precinct. While the show concluded with a satisfying finale after eight seasons, fans have often hoped for a revival. Recently, one of the show’s main actors hinted on social media that something might be happening.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Star Teases New Project
Dirk Blocker, known for his role as Hitchcock on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, recently hinted at a possible reunion. He shared a photo on social media with the playful caption, “I’m BACK!, hope you didn’t miss me,” and included the hashtags “comeback” and “99,” sparking excitement among fans.
Another post showed photos from behind the scenes of the show, featuring Melissa Fumero (Amy) and Dean Winters (Keith Pembroke, a.k.a. The Vulture). The person who shared it wrote, “Does this make things clearer?”
Another photo surfaced, this time featuring him with Joel McKinnon Miller, who famously played Scully. He jokingly hinted at a possible reunion, writing, “Just saying, the hottest pair might return!”
The series Brooklyn Nine-Nine gave satisfying conclusions to everyone’s storylines. Captain Holt and Amy left the 99th precinct for new jobs, while Jake decided to stay home and raise his son with Amy. Terry Crews’ character, Terry, was promoted to Captain, and the rest of the team welcomed new colleagues.
For years, fans had hoped the cast would get back together. But after the sudden passing of Andre Braugher in late 2023, the actors decided a reunion wouldn’t feel right without him. The show featured a talented group led by Andy Samberg, alongside Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller.
Last year, I realized something: everyone is juggling family and a hectic life. When responding to questions from the media, it’s important to be polite and avoid sounding dismissive or rude.
The Encanto actress added that she deeply cares for those she worked with and would happily collaborate with them again, enjoying their company both on and off screen.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Could Do a Spinoff
Hitchcock and Scully were a hilarious pair on the show, and their comedic timing was just as strong as Jake and Charles’s. Though they weren’t the main characters, they were key members of the cast, and according to Blocker, NBC was considering giving them their own spin-off series.
The show could use a combination of present-day scenes and flashbacks. Season 6, Episode 2, “Hitchcock & Scully,” already showed the detectives as highly capable and in great shape. The actor who plays Reacher portrayed an older Hitchcock in that episode, while Wyatt Nash from Riverdale played a younger version of him.
Despite his work on several projects, his talent for comedy hasn’t been fully showcased, and a spin-off series based on Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be a great way to highlight it.
