Anya Taylor-Joy, a popular actress known for her work in film and television, has quickly become a major Hollywood star. While she’s taken on many roles, she recently revealed that she has a clear favorite – and one she considers her least favorite.
Taylor-Joy recently visited Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about her new animated movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The conversation also turned to her past work on the show Peaky Blinders, and she mentioned its popularity in Argentina, where her family has roots. She also shared her thoughts on her experience with the series.
Gina Gray Is Anya Taylor-Joy’s “Worst” Character
Taylor-Joy was surprised by which characters her family connected with most. She noted that Peaky Blinders is very popular in Argentina, and jokingly called her character in the show ‘potentially the worst’ she’s ever played, while adding that her family surprisingly loves it.
Anya Taylor-Joy portrayed Gina Gray, an American socialite, in Peaky Blinders. She married Michael Gray (Finn Cole), who is Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) cousin. Introduced in Season 5, Gina encouraged Michael to take control of the family business, subtly influencing his choices and creating conflict. This made her a controversial character among viewers.
Anya Taylor-Joy Is Staying Very Busy in Hollywood
Taylor-Joy has two big movies coming out this year. She’ll return as the voice of Princess Peach in the sequel to The Super Mario Movie, which is expected to be a major box office hit. She’s also joining Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, arriving in theaters on December 18th, after making a brief appearance in Dune: Part Two last year. Recent films featuring Taylor-Joy include Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Gorge, and Sacrifice.
I’m so excited for Anya Taylor-Joy’s new series, Lucky! It’s coming out this summer, and she’s not only the star – playing a character named Lucky, a former con artist – but she’s also an executive producer. The story is about Lucky getting involved in one last heist that goes wrong, and she has to go on the run. It sounds amazing, and the cast is fantastic with Annette Bening and Timothy Olyphant joining her! Mark your calendars – it premieres on July 15, 2026!
Anya Taylor-Joy first gained widespread recognition for her performance as Beth Harmon, which won her Golden Globe and SAG Awards. While she started with a breakout role in the horror film The Witch, she now primarily focuses on big-screen projects, including memorable appearances in films like Split, Last Night in Soho, and The Northman.
Taylor-Joy can next be heard in , which hits theaters on Apr. 1, 2026.
