With a new Daredevil series coming soon, now is the perfect time to watch the original on Disney+. Many fans consider the show, which first aired on Netflix, to be one of the greatest superhero series ever created, and a standout within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If you’re looking for a fantastic show to watch or re-watch, Daredevil is always a good choice. But now is the perfect time to jump in, especially with the upcoming new season of its sequel, Daredevil: Born Again. This new season marks the beginning of Daredevil taking a central role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Original Daredevil Is More Important Now Than Ever Thanks To Born Again Season 2
Even though Daredevil ended after three seasons in 2018, the character’s story continues. Charlie Cox has returned as Matt Murdock in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, and he’ll be back for season 2 on March 24th. This renewed interest means the original Daredevil series is more important now than it’s been in a long time. It’s essential to watch the original series to fully understand and appreciate Born Again.
The recent revival of the original Daredevil isn’t solely due to Born Again. Many upcoming Marvel projects are using elements first established in Daredevil. For example, Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as the Punisher in a new TV special, and his character was first introduced in the Daredevil series. The Punisher will also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has already been officially linked to Born Again through the Hand, a group of villains from Daredevil.
Adding to the excitement, several supporting characters from the original Daredevil series will also be in Born Again. Krysten Ritter is reprising her role as Jessica Jones, and fans can expect to see Luke Cage and Iron Fist, the other members of the Defenders, appear as well. Daredevil is truly central to some of the biggest upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daredevil Is Also A Perfect Show To Binge-Watch On Its Own
Whether you’re planning to watch the new Daredevil: Born Again series or are already familiar with the story, the original Daredevil series is still fantastic. It was a standout show on Netflix, and now it remains one of the best action-packed thrillers available on Disney+. Each episode delivers intense, realistic action, along with mystery, suspense, drama, and impressive visuals – some of the best the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to offer.
If you’re getting tired of typical superhero stories, Daredevil is a great choice. It avoids the usual jokes, over-the-top powers, and world-ending threats that can turn people away. Instead, it’s a dark, realistic, and intense crime drama that feels very different from most superhero shows. Plus, you don’t need to know anything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe to enjoy it – you can jump right in!
But the main reason you should watch Daredevil is simply that it’s a fantastic show. You’ll be completely hooked, especially by the compelling connection between the characters Matt, Foggy, and Karen. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio deliver incredible performances that are both moving and thrilling. Expect intense fight scenes and plenty of surprising twists – it’s a truly exceptional series.
Trying To Watch All Of Netflix’s Marvel Shows Is Too Much, But Daredevil Is Enough
To fully understand the upcoming season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, it would be best to watch all the Marvel shows originally made for Netflix. However, that’s a huge commitment! Netflix created six shows – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders – totaling 13 seasons. Each season contained 10 to 13 hour-long episodes, adding up to hundreds of hours of content.
Trying to watch all the Marvel Defenders shows back-to-back isn’t really worth the effort. While Daredevil and Jessica Jones are excellent, the overall series has some weak spots, especially Iron Fist and The Defenders itself. Daredevil stands out with three fantastic seasons that are consistently thrilling.
The Daredevil series effectively sets the stage for upcoming Marvel shows like Born Again and others. It covers the complete story of Matt Murdock, most of Kingpin’s arc, and introduces characters like the Punisher and the Hand. If you want a concise show to get you up to speed for future Marvel content, Daredevil is an excellent choice.
