Tubi Confirms R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 Release Window

A sequel is in the works! Just one year after its initial release on Tubi, the free streaming service has announced plans to continue the story.

The sequel to R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, titled Pumpkinhead 2, is coming to Tubi this October. It’s part of Tubi’s month-long Halloween lineup, ‘Terror on Tubi,’ which will feature a variety of spooky titles.

What Will R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 Be About?

R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead could become a popular annual Halloween series. The first film launched on October 17, 2025, as part of Tubi’s ‘Terror on Tubi’ event, and the campaign as a whole has already been viewed for over 100 million hours. While there aren’t enough ratings yet for a Rotten Tomatoes score, the film has received positive reviews from five out of six critics.

Jem Garrard, who directed the original film Slay, will also direct the sequel. The story centers around Sam, whose brother Finn vanishes and is then seemingly erased from everyone’s memory. Sam is the only one who remembers Finn, and he must solve the mystery before his brother is lost forever.

Okay, so this movie is about a kid named Evan who’s getting picked on at school. He stumbles across this old spellbook, and, well, it basically wakes up an ancient curse on his town, Redhaven. Suddenly, these creepy pumpkin-headed kids start rising from the ground – turns out they were sacrifices from the past, and they want to take over during the Harvest Festival. The town’s only chance? A witch who’s been gone a long time, but she’s back and determined to destroy that book before everything goes completely wrong. It sounds wild!

Tubi’s head of content, Adam Lewinson, is excited about the new sequel, noting that R.L. Stine has had a huge impact on horror for young readers and continues to be popular with each new generation.

The 2025 release of Pumpkinhead did well, and Lewinson hinted that the next film will explore the story’s background further, continuing the studio’s focus on young adult horror fans.

The author shared, “Halloween just isn’t complete without a spooky tale of kids stuck inside a pumpkin! I’m thrilled we’re bringing another pumpkin-themed adventure to Tubi.”

R.L. Stine’s Works Received Several Adaptations

R.L. Stine is a hugely popular author of children’s horror stories. Many of his books have been adapted for the screen, including a recent four-part slasher series on Netflix that aired between 2021 and 2005.

The popular book series Goosebumps has been made into a movie several times, including a 2015 film directed by Rob Letterman starring Jack Black as a version of the author. While the movie was moderately successful, Black didn’t have a major role and appeared in an uncredited capacity.

I recently checked out Goosebumps, the series Rob Letterman created for Disney+ and Hulu, and it’s a really fun, spooky anthology. Each episode feels like its own self-contained horror story, which keeps things fresh and exciting. It’s a great pick if you’re looking for a quick scare!

R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 premieres on Tubi in October.
