Netflix’s new international series, Phantom Lawyer, is already proving popular in the US. It’s made it into the platform’s Top 10, despite only having two episodes available for viewers in the country.
The 16-episode series Phantom Lawyer is currently a hit on Netflix, ranking at number 9 in Korea. The show centers around Shin I-rang, a typical lawyer played by Yoo Yeon-seok, who suddenly gains the ability to see ghosts. This new ability challenges him to overcome his anxieties and dramatically alters his professional life.
Shin I-rang eventually partners with Han Na-hyeon, a serious and somewhat frightening lawyer (played by Esom). Together, they handle unusual cases involving ghosts and spirits who need help with unresolved issues. As they work, they uncover secrets that affect both the spirit world and the living.
The success of Phantom Lawyer highlights a growing trend at Netflix: international shows are becoming increasingly popular with American viewers. As it gets easier to access content from around the world, people are proving they’re open to watching shows made outside the US, especially if those shows offer something new and different.
The Netflix series combines courtroom dramas with supernatural elements. This mix of genres seems to be appealing to viewers who are looking for something different from typical crime shows, which usually focus on realistic situations. Phantom Lawyer isn’t the first show to successfully combine these ideas; popular and well-received series like Dead Boy Detectives and Lucifer have explored similar themes, demonstrating that this combination continues to draw in viewers.
Even though only two episodes of Phantom Lawyer are currently available for streaming in the US, its quick rise to Netflix’s Top 10 suggests it could become even more popular as the remaining episodes are released. With 14 episodes still to come, Phantom Lawyer is likely to attract more viewers and possibly rank even higher in the charts soon.
The first two episodes of Phantom Lawyer are now available to stream on Netflix.
