2026’s WandaVision Sequel Will Officially Solve An 11-Year-Old MCU Infinity Saga Mystery

The next installment in the WandaVision story, titled VisionQuest, will resolve a puzzle that’s been lingering since the events of the Infinity Saga. This Disney+ series will conclude an exciting three-part story and mark the first time Paul Bettany takes the lead in a Marvel Studios project, after playing JARVIS in the Iron Man films for nearly two decades. The show will also connect to many past events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even bringing back a significant villain that fans may have forgotten.

There’s talk that the upcoming Marvel series, VisionQuest, will explain what happened to Ultron after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. According to sources, White Vision will journey to Madripoor in search of his lost memories and will come face-to-face with Ultron, who will appear as a human (again voiced by James Spader). This meeting could significantly advance the story, as Ultron reconnects with one of the people who created him.

This part of the show will likely explain what Ultron has been doing since he was last seen in the 2015 movie Avengers: Age of Ultron. It promises to reveal what happened during the eleven years he was absent from the screen, a period that represents an even longer time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s overall story.

I’m really excited about what’s coming in the VisionQuest series! While we don’t know all the details of the story yet, some early trailers have shown James Spader returning as Ultron. That’s huge! It looks like their complicated history – remember that epic fight in Avengers: Age of Ultron? – will be a big part of Vision’s first solo adventure, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.

In 2026, Disney+ will release VisionQuest as one of six new Marvel Cinematic Universe projects for Phase 6. The show stars Paul Bettany, James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, and Emily Hampshire. It follows White Vision as he tries to recover the memories of the original Vision after the events of WandaVision and his time within Wanda Maximoff’s reality-altering Hex.

How Ultron’s Story Will Evolve in VisionQuest

It’s been a while since we last saw Vision! After seemingly taking down Ultron for good in Age of Ultron, he’s been pretty much off the radar for over ten years. We’ve only heard his name dropped here and there, and it was a fun surprise to see him pop up briefly in Spider-Man: Homecoming – remember when Peter Parker was stuck in that truck and pulled an Ultron head out of a bag? It was a cool little Easter egg that reminded us he was still out there somewhere.

Some fans think he’s been inactive, waiting inside a computer or hard drive for a chance to inhabit a new form. This idea is often linked to Vision, who hasn’t appeared since Tony Stark and Bruce Banner transferred Jarvis into his body and created him.

The show might reveal that he’s been hiding in Madripoor all along, giving us a richer backstory for the island nation we recently learned about in 2021. Given Madripoor’s strong criminal connections, it’s possible Ultron could use the city to rebuild himself.
