Fred was played by Freddie Prinze Jr. in the Scooby-Doo movies released in 2002 and 2004. The films also featured Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Linda Cardellini as Velma, and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. Currently, there’s no information about when the next movie might begin production.
Netflix is creating a new Scooby-Doo series that tells the story of how the Mystery Inc. gang first came together. The show, inspired by the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons, will have eight episodes and was officially approved in March 2025.
Netflix’s new Scooby-Doo movie will take place during Shaggy and Daphne’s last summer at Camp Ruby-Spears. They’ll become involved in a spooky mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy who might have seen something supernatural happen.
The group teamed up with Velma, a practical and scientifically-minded local, and Freddy, a new student described as unusual but attractive. Together, this classic team began investigating a disturbing case that was causing them all nightmares and risked revealing their hidden secrets.
A release window for Scooby-Doo has yet to be set by Netflix.
