The showrunner said that making sure this Marvel character returned was a key focus for Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
Why is Jessica Jones returning in Daredevil: Born Again?
Fans are excited about Krysten Ritter reprising her role as Jessica Jones in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, who spoke with GamesRadar+, bringing Jessica Jones back to the Marvel universe was essential.
Speaking to GamesRadar+, showrunner Jennifer Scardapane praised Melissa Rosenberg’s work on Jessica Jones, calling it one of the best shows in its genre. She also highlighted Krysten Ritter’s performance, saying she created a fantastic character. Scardapane confirmed that bringing Ritter back for the new season was a major priority, and described her return as a creative highlight – not just for the production team, but also for the studio and, she believes, the audience.
Krysten Ritter played Jessica Jones in the Netflix series for three seasons. The show also featured appearances from characters like Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, as part of the team-up series The Defenders. Now, with Ritter returning in the new Daredevil: Born Again series, Jessica Jones will once again share the screen with Daredevil, recreating their Defenders team-up.
According to Sana Amanat, an executive producer on ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ the show features compelling characters. She acknowledged the strong characters established in previous series and expressed excitement about being able to include J.J. (presumably J. Jonah Jameson) – a character they had hoped for from the start – and seeing how his story has evolved over the years.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will follow Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox), as he goes on the run. This happens after Mayor Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin (played by Vincent D’Onofrio), starts a conflict with all vigilantes.
I’m really excited about the cast for Season 2! We’ve got Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Tony Dalton, Matthew Lillard, and Lili Taylor all joining the lineup. It’s such a talented group, I can’t wait to see what they bring to the show.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on March 24, 2026.
