Transformers’ Most ‘Toxic’ Version of Optimus Prime Gets New Exclusive Release

The popular franchise features many recolored versions of its characters, including the famous Optimus Prime. Now, a particularly strange and unsettling alternate version of him is getting a new action figure.

Threezero recently unveiled the MDLX Toxitron, a collectible figure first shown at a fan event. Inspired by a toy that was originally planned but never officially released, it’s now available in limited quantities. With a deliberately unpleasant color scheme and weapons representing environmental hazards, this figure is striking and thought-provoking.

MDLX Toxitron, unveiled at TFCon LA, is a unique character that resembles Optimus Prime but with a dangerous, corrosive touch and toxic abilities. Created by the Decepticons as a failed experiment, he’s often seen as a mix of the Transformers universe and characters like DC’s Bizarro or a villainous take on the Toxic Avenger. Although built like Optimus Prime, his bright, sickly yellow-green color scheme is strikingly unpleasant.

This seven-inch action figure is incredibly detailed and poseable, with almost 50 points of articulation. It features a new head sculpt and comes with six different sets of hands, an energon axe, an Ion Blaster, and the Matrix of Leadership. While it includes the Matrix, this version won’t magically solve anyone’s problems!

Good news for fans! You won’t have to go to TFCon LA to get your hands on Toxitron. It will also be available for purchase online, and you can pre-order it now. It’s expected to ship in April 2026 and costs $100.99. As one of the few toys made of this unique character, it’s a highly sought-after collectible.

Toxitron was originally planned to appear in the early 2000s as part of the Transformers: Universe collection. The design was a green and purple recoloring of Laser Optimus Prime from Transformers: Generation 2. Although the original figure never came out, this version of Toxitron has had more success and is one of several representations of the character, ready to excite – and maybe even shock – fans.
