Titus Welliver, known for his role in Bosch: Legacy, is starring in a new, realistic drama called The Westies, which will be released this summer. This new series comes just a year after Bosch: Legacy finished airing.
Okay, so MGM+ just dropped the official poster for their new series, and I’m officially hyped! It looks like we’ll finally be able to stream it starting July 12, 2026. They timed the announcement with St. Patrick’s Day, which makes sense considering the show’s about a notorious Irish gang in NYC – they’re telling us to get ready to meet some seriously unforgettable characters. The poster itself is pretty striking – it says “F*CK LUCK” and has a four-leaf clover alongside the show’s logo. You can check it out below – it’s definitely grabbing my attention!
Titus Welliver Is Back in Action After Bosch: Legacy Cancellation
The premiere date was announced almost a year after the show was first revealed in March 2025. According to MGM+, Ray Liotta’s former Bosch co-star Titus Welliver will lead the cast of The Westies, a new crime drama created by Chris Brancato, who will also oversee the show’s production. The first season will have eight episodes and also feature J.K. Simmons (Oz, Spider-Man), Tom Brittney (Grantchester), Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark), Sarah Bolger (A Good Woman Is Hard to Find), and Allen Leech (Downton Abbey). Brancato is executive producing with co-creator Michael Panes.
Set in the gritty streets of 1980s Hell’s Kitchen, The Westies tells the story of a notoriously violent Irish gang. Despite being heavily outnumbered by the Italian Mafia, the Westies rely on cunning and ruthless force to gain an advantage. But tensions rise within the gang itself, as younger members clash with the older leadership, threatening to tear them apart and potentially bring them under FBI scrutiny.
The Westies Takes Place in 80s Hell’s Kitchen
Brancato described his new series, The Westies, as a long-held dream, expressing his excitement to finally see it realized. The show explores themes of ambition, loyalty, and power within the vibrant setting of 1980s New York City. He also shared his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Michael Panes and the team at MGM+, particularly Michael Wright.
Michael Wright, head of MGM+, shared more details about the upcoming show, saying they’re excited to offer viewers another gripping crime drama from Chris Brancato, a truly talented storyteller. He described Brancato as a showrunner who excels at creating compelling characters in intense, high-stakes situations, and believes The Westies is among his best work. MGM+ is eager to share it with their audience.
The first season of on Jul. 12, 2026.
