Apple TV has a fantastic summer planned for science fiction lovers, with several highly anticipated shows and series returning then.
Apple TV has earned a reputation for consistently delivering top-notch science fiction series, surpassing other streaming platforms. Over time, they’ve built an impressive collection of sci-fi shows, and now host some of the genre’s most popular current series, including titles like Silo, Severance, Foundation, and For All Mankind.
Although not every sci-fi show on Apple TV has lasted long-term, many are doing well and will likely be back for more. In fact, three series have already been confirmed to return with new episodes in Summer 2026, promising another strong year for the streaming service.
Some Of The Best Apple TV Sci-Fi Franchises Are Returning In 2026
Fans are eager for the return of Silo, and while there’s no official release date yet, Rebecca Ferguson (the show’s star) has announced that season 3 will premiere in Summer 2026. Because seasons 3 and 4 were filmed at the same time, this means the final season should be available by early 2027, which is exciting news for viewers.
In addition to the popular Apple TV+ series Silo, another exciting show, For All Mankind, is getting a spinoff this summer. Called Star City, it will debut on May 29, 2026. Though details are still limited, the new series will explore an alternate historical timeline, this time focusing on the Soviet Union and building on the world established in the original For All Mankind.
The new show’s title references the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, hinting that, similar to the original series, it will embrace realistic science fiction and explore thought-provoking ‘what if’ questions.
Apple TV+ has a great summer schedule, including the second season of Sugar. This show is one of the most interesting and unique programs on the platform. While season one started as a classic crime thriller in the style of neo-noir, it took a surprising turn halfway through and became a science fiction drama.
It’s still too early to know if the show’s move towards science fiction will be successful long-term, but it’s definitely made things more interesting. Season 2 of Sugar is confirmed to premiere on Apple TV on June 19, 2026, and could be a big hit for the streaming service.
Apple TV’s Sci-Fi Domination Will Seemingly Continue This Year
Apple TV+ had a fantastic 2025 for science fiction shows. The year started strong with the return of the popular Severance season 2, which was just as successful as its first season. It ended with Pluribus becoming the service’s biggest hit in the sci-fi genre. Things are looking promising for 2026, and it could be an even better year for the streaming service.
Apple TV+ is off to a strong start this year, with season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters receiving excellent reviews. The summer looks promising for sci-fi fans, as popular shows Silo, For All Mankind, and Sugar are all returning with new seasons.
While there’s no official release date yet, Apple TV’s series based on William Gibson’s Neuromancer might be available by the end of 2026, which would be a great addition to the streaming service’s lineup.
Good news for science fiction lovers could also mean updates about the return of other popular Apple TV shows, including Severance, Foundation, Dark Matter, and Murderbot.
