The runtime for the next DC Studios movie, Supergirl, has reportedly been revealed.
Following the launch of the DC Universe with the animated series Creature Commandos in 2024, Supergirl will be the second film released. The movie, based on the 2022 comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, centers on 21-year-old Kara Zor-El and her journey across the galaxy with her dog, Krypto. During their travels, she encounters a girl named Ruthye and embarks on a dangerous mission driven by revenge.
What is the current runtime for Supergirl?
A post on X from Everything_DCU states that the current cut of the Supergirl movie is one hour and forty-five minutes long, not including credits. By comparison, the first DC Universe movie, Superman, ran for two hours and nine minutes including credits. Considering credits usually add about seven to eight minutes, Supergirl is shaping up to be a superhero film under two hours long.
This recent change happened just days after it was revealed that the show Supergirl had switched composers for the second time. Ramin Djawadi initially signed on, as he’d collaborated with the showrunner before on the 2011 film Fright Night. However, Tom Holkenborg (also known as Junkie XL) took over in February 2026, but was then replaced himself a month later by Saudie Sarne.
The first project launching the new DCU will be Supergirl, scheduled for release in 2026. It will be followed by the TV series Lanterns in August and the mature-themed horror film Clayface in October. Ana Nogueira penned the Supergirl script, and Craig Gillespie directed the movie.
Milly Alcock stars as Supergirl, playing Kara Zor-El. The film also features Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Kara’s father, Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll, Diarmaid Murtagh as Drom Baxton, and Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills.
Jason Momoa is joining the cast as Lobo, a mercenary and bounty hunter from another planet. He’s well known for playing Aquaman in previous DC movies. David Corenswet will likely return as Superman for a few scenes as well.
Supergirl is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
