Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series Adds Iconic Sci-Fi & Thriller Star To Growing Cast

Assassin’s Creed is assembling a killer cast.

Netflix is creating a live-action television series based on the popular video game Assassin’s Creed. The show blends historical settings with a science fiction-like conflict between the Assassins and the Knights Templar. The cast includes Lola Petticrew (known for She Said), Toby Wallace (Eden), Zachary Hart (Slow Horses), Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Laura Marcus (Death by Lightning).

Netflix announced on its Geeked Twitter account that Noomi Rapace, Ramzy Bedia, Sean Harris, and Corrado Invernizzi are joining the cast of the Assassin’s Creed series. Details about the roles they’ll play haven’t been revealed yet.

Noomi Rapace has joined another big film series, adding to her experience with popular franchises. She’s best known for playing Lisbeth Salander in the original Swedish films The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and has also appeared in movies like Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, season 2 of Jack Ryan, and the Alien prequel Prometheus.

Noomi Rapace’s new colleagues are all seasoned actors, which should help them convincingly portray the world of the Assassin’s Creed games. Sean Harris, a BAFTA winner who previously worked with Rapace on Prometheus, has a lot of experience with big franchises too, having appeared in films like Has Fallen and Mission: Impossible.

Ramzy Bedia, a well-known French comedian, actor, and filmmaker, has appeared in several popular French TV shows, including H, Of Money and Blood, Platane, and Or de lui. Italian actor Corrado Invernizzi brings experience with both time travel and historical dramas, recently starring in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Those About to Die.

This isn’t the first time Assassin’s Creed has been brought to life with a notable cast. Back in 2016, a movie adaptation starred Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Charlotte Rampling, Brendan Gleeson, Michael K. Williams, and Jeremy Irons.

The movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed wasn’t successful, receiving very negative reviews (18% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a lukewarm response from audiences (42%). This creates an opportunity for the new Assassin’s Creed TV show to differentiate itself and better showcase the talents of its actors, benefiting from the longer format that a television series allows.
