I was so thrilled when Netflix officially renewed the show for Season 4 – it felt like its future was finally secure! But it’s a little strange, because I’ve noticed the show’s actually been getting fewer viewers on Netflix since the renewal announcement. It’s a bit of a mixed bag of news, honestly.
According to FlixPatrol, the TV show The Night Agent has fallen out of the top 10 most-watched shows on Netflix, both in the U.S. and worldwide. This happened less than a month after the show’s third season was released on February 19th, with all episodes available at once. Season 2 had premiered in January 2025, and the series originally debuted in March 2023.
The Night Agent Will Return for Season 4
Despite no longer being among the most-watched shows overall, the premiere of The Night Agent Season 3 quickly gained popularity. It reached the No. 2 spot on the English TV list with 9.9 million views during its second week, and also brought the show’s first two seasons back into the global top 10. Just two weeks after the new season launched, Netflix announced it would be making a Season 4. Even before Season 3 aired, there were reports and rumors suggesting the show would continue, including news that production was relocating to California.
Series creator Shawn Ryan shared that filming The Night Agent across five countries and three continents was an incredible experience. He expressed excitement that Peter Sutherland’s story will continue with Season 4, and that the talented writers, cast, and crew are eager to deliver even more suspense and excitement for fans.
Gabriel Basso Returns as Peter Sutherland
Gabriel Basso plays Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent stationed at the White House, who finds himself caught up in intricate conspiracies. At the end of Season 3, Peter told his supervisor, Agent Aiden Mosley (played by Albert Jones), that he was planning to take some time off. However, he won’t be resting for long – Season 4 is already being made, meaning Peter will soon be back on the case.
Alongside Gabriel Basso, The Night Agent features a talented cast including Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, a Secret Service agent, and Louis Herthum as Jacob Monroe, a former lawyer involved in the black market intelligence world. Amanda Warren plays Catherine Weaver, who handles Peter within the Night Action program. War Horton portrays the President of the United States, Richard Hagan, and David Lyons plays fellow Night Agent, Adam Corrigan. Jennifer Morrison appears as Jenny Hagan, the First Lady, Stephen Moyer as a dangerous assassin known as The Father, Genesis Rodriguez as financial journalist Isabel De Leon, and Callum Vinson as The Father’s adopted son.
